My 1996 ford probe gt 24 valve has a starting problem it cranks over but will not start I tried the obd twice now and it shows nothing whats my problem ?please I need help on this thanks

If all of that fails put a $ 20.00 crank sensor in it you will need one sooner or later anyway and take gas cap off and listen to it while someone turn the key to on if you hear nothing no hum hit the gas tank a few times should get you going

OBD is generally just emissions related issues. Car not starting, by definition, is not producing emissions.

How long since it last started?

Recall that starting requires Spark, Fuel, and Air in the right proportions and at the right time.

Spark - since it turns over you have electricity, but are the Spark Plugs all converting it to Spark? If in doubt, remove, clean, and gap them.

Fuel - is the fuel line or its filter clogged? Is the gas fresh, not the same tank you filled last fall and left in over the winter without driving?

Air - check the air intakes and filters. They get clogged with pollen this time of year, so take them out, vacuum clean or replace.

I did a obd2 fault test on my 1996 ford probe gt because it cranks over but won't start and the obd2 test shows nothing


Does the OBD2 truly show nothing, or were there just no stored codes? You should have the ability to monitor the datastream of the supported sensors. If none of the datastream data is available, you probably have a fuse issue that feeds the PCM or the OBD2 port. If you are able to monitor the supported sensors but there are no diagnostic codes, you need to look at the various sensors to understand what's likely happening.

Of course if you don't have access to a scan tool with datastream mode, then you are somewhat limited to the old school method of determining what you have and what you don't have that an engine needs to start and run. Do you have spark? Do you have fuel? Do you have compression? A simple test for spark is to use a spark plug tester and see if you get a nice bright spark. If so, then try squirting a bit of throttle body cleaner in the intake when cranking to see if the engine tries to start and run. If not, then check the compression to see if you have compression. If no compression you'll usually be able to hear this in the starter motor as an engine that spins over faster than usual.

Once you understand which of these basics you have and which you don't have, that will help you greatly reduce the number of systems you need to consider for troubleshooting.

First check for spark at the spark plugs. If you are getting spark, then check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail (shrader valve). If you have spark and fuel you may have a vacuum leak or a timing issue.

If you have fuel injector pulse, engine cranking, I don't think the crank sensor is your problem. Just my opinion.

You need to perform an OBD2 fault code test, you will need a scan tool or a fault code reader. DO NOT GUESS, DO THE TESTING.
