First check for spark at the spark plugs. If you are getting spark, then check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail (shrader valve). If you have spark and fuel you may have a vacuum leak or a timing issue.

Is there a simple way to tell if a crank sensor on a 1996 ford probe gt 24 valve engine is stopping it from starting?


If you have fuel injector pulse, engine cranking, I don't think the crank sensor is your problem. Just my opinion.

Now how do you know the crank sensor is defective, I read your other 2 post and you are guessing here, do the OBD2 fault code test and read the codes and work from that information.

My 93 ford probe gt has a fuel problem, at work couple of guys says its the filter, it can b going down road and die, u can wear out starter trying to get it to start back up, then u let it sit and it will...


in the engine compartment between the firewall and the air filter and you need a 10 mm wrench and needle nose pliers and yes this definitely sounds like the problem it is clogged best of luck tomoro

That's actually nothing to worry about. It's actually a butterly valve in your intake. I have a 96 gt, and used to have a 93 gt. My buddy had a 95 gt, and all of those cars had the same sound. It's loud and annoying, I know, but there is no way around it. What you can do to prove that is the problem (which I'm sure it is), is look at your intake plenum. Look at where your throttle cable meets your throttlebody. There is a little arm attached to a solonoid (air actuated) that is close to the firewall, and toward the passanger side on the throttlebody. The lever rests on a little metal nipple that sticks out of the cast. you can move it back and fourth. Run your car, and lift that lever just a tiny bit until you hear the noise go away. What I did was put a tiny bit of solder on the nipple where the arm rests to keep it up that tiny bit so the noise would'nt be there anymore.

If that doesn't solve it, then you may have a bad valve.

the setting of the idling must be wrong. try this... at first you start the engine, wait till it gets hot then start lowering the idle in the normal rpm. this will sure work. hope this helps

Serpentine belts on a 95 ford probe gt. what does each of them control?


the one on left from crank going clockwise from crank is tensioner then power steering pump then water pump, then one on right from crank again clock wise is tensioner then alternator then aircon compressor, hope this helps
