SOURCE: Where is the fuel pressure regulator located on a 1988 Dodge B-150 van, 5.2 liter? I've been told it's on the fuel rail. Where is the fuel rail?

If you have throttle-body fuel injection, you don't have a fuel rail. The fuel pressure regulator should be mounted to throttle body.

Where is the fuel pressure regulator located?

The regulator is attached to the fuel rail, under the fuel rail cover. Here is a drawing... it is item #4. The drawing is an exploded view - follow the trace-line from the part to the rail cross-over and you see where it connects. Here is the R/R procedure from AUTOZONE....

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Remove the fuel rail cover.
  4. Remove the fuel rail.
  5. Remove the fuel tube bracket attaching screw, then remove the bracket.
  6. Unfasten the pressure regulator attaching screw and separate the regulator from the fuel rail assembly.
  7. Remove the fuel outlet tube retaining clip, then remove the tube from the pressure regulator.
  8. Remove the pressure regulator inlet and fuel outlet tube O-rings, then discard.
  9. Inspect the filter screen for contamination. If contaminated, replace it with a new one.
To install:
  1. Lubricate the new pressure regulator inlet and outlet tube O-rings with clean engine oil and install.
  2. Install the fuel outlet tube into the regulator and install the retaining clip.
  3. Push the pressure regulator into the fuel rail and install the retaining screw. Tighten the screw to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  4. Install the fuel tube bracket and retaining screw. Tighten the screw to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  5. Install the fuel rail assembly.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. With the engine off, turn the ignition switch to the ON position for 2 seconds, then turn it to the OFF position for 10 seconds. Again turn it to the ON position and check for fuel leaks.

Hope this helps!

I need to access the fuel injectors in my 98 wrangler, but i dont know how to get to them

FIRST NEED TO RELIEF FUEL PRESSURE REMOVE GAS CAP RELIEF GAS PRESSURE IN FUEL TANK.THEN REMOVE FUEL PUMP RELAY THEN START ENGINE UNTIL IT DIES LACK OF FUEL,CRANK ENGINE OVER FEW MORE TIMES MAKE SURE FUEL OUT OF FUEL LINES. THEN YOU NEED TO REMOVE AIR CLEANER CROSS OVER TUBE ABOVE FUEL RAILS. DISCONNECT LINES AT THE ENDS OF THE FUELS RAILS ASSEMBLY. MARK AND DISCONNECT THE FUEL INJECTOR WIRE HARNESS CONNECTORS. REMOVE THE FUEL RAIL RETAINING BOLTS, DISCONNECT THE VACUUM LINE FROM THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. REMOVE THE FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY FROM THE ENGINE. IF YOU HAVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REMOVE THE THROTTLE PRESSURE CABLE AND BRACKET TO REMOVE THE FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY.TO REMOVE FUEL INJECTORS JUST REMOVE CLIPS THAT RETAIN FUEL INJECTORS IN FUEL RAIL. BESURE GO TO DEALERSHIP BUY NEW FUEL INJECTORS O - RINGS.APPLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF ENGINE OIL TO THE O - RINGS TO AID IN INSTALLATION. TORQUE FUEL RAIL BOLTS TO 100 INCH LBS.

Fuel injector reeplacement

you don`t say what motor is in this so here is a basic procedure, find the fuel rail where the fuel lines connect to at the intake manifold.disconnect the fuel lines(be carefull you could get gas in your eyes from fuel spray or start a fire due to hot engine)these lines have high pressure fuel in them.look at the fuel rails to see what all is in the way to remove them and remove interferance items.remove the bolts that hold the rails to the intake manifold, gently lift wiggle the fuel rails and you may have to pry up on the rails in places to get them to come out with the injectors attached the rails.you should make sure any debris is removed from around the injectors so no dirt falls into the injector holes before you remove.then you can remove the injector to rail lock clips and remove the injectors from the rails.clean areas were the injectors will be going apply either gas or silicone on the injector O rings then install injectors to rail install lock clips and reassemble.replace all the O rings as they get dried out brittle and crack or split.re-install removed components start car and check for fuel leaks.

Nope - pretty much every system I've seen requires removal of the rail and all injectors as a unit, and then individual disassembly of the injectors. Honestly, with an 11-model-year-old car, if you're going to remove that injector (which, by your other post, you don't have a choice), it's worth the time and relatively low cost to replace all of your O-rings for peace of mind. You can soak the rail and injectors with penetrating oil to help free them up, and then clean and dry the rail and ring seating surfaces before installing the new O rings and injectors. You're going to enough trouble as it is - might as well be thorough and handle any future fuel leakage now before it's an issue and requires another removal of the rail.
