Any recent changes to coil(s)?." I've seen the connections be not grounded properly depending on your vehicle and type of coil which could also lead to this condition.

1998 Mitsubishi spider 2.4 spark plug and Coil want wiring diagram


Your engine uses a "waste spark" ignition, meaning it uses one coil for each pair of cylinders. The high voltage current path is to the first spark plug, through the aluminum cylinder head to the secodn spark plug, then out of that plug back to the ingnition coil. One plug fires on the comrpession stroke and the other on the exhaust stroke to ignite any unburned exhaust gasses. The engine's computer "fires one coil at a time based on signals from the crank angle sensor and the cam angle sensor. Likely the problem with your engine is with one of those two sensors.

An OBDII scanner will indicate which sensor is defective. If the engine ran fine before you turned it off, and now it will not start, the problem is likely the crank angle sensor (close tot he crank pully). Otherwsie, oif the engine starts sometimes and not others, it is due to a defective cam angle sensor (near the intake cam "gear" (where the timing belt cover is).

My 1997 jetta vr6 glx does not have spark in number 3 and 4 at the coil. changed the coil and the ecm, still no spark at coil. whats going on?


Check to see if the cam position sensor or the crank position sensor is misaligned or has a corroded connector plug. The ECM needs to get a firing pulse from all cylinders. If the engine is a dual cam and is not attempting to start, some engines have a timing device (chain) for each bank. If the chain broke on one bank, the cam sensor can not possibly fire because the cam is not turning.

I have a 2002 nissan sentra ser spec v. my car wont start, im not sure if its a timing issue. i had changed the head gasket and when putting everything back i installed new cams. i pulled a plug out and...


The coils are fired from the OBD box. If you changed the cams, make sure the pickup timing marks on the new cams are the same as on your old cams. The OBD reads the position of the cams from a sensor, which picks up the cam position from the cams themselves. If there is no signal, or a faulty signal from the cam sensor, the OBD will not fire.

Random misfire on all cyliner a po300 code pops up in the scanner...


It sounds like the coil is breaking down or the cam sensor may be at fault for the misfiring. Use an inline tester and connect from the coil tower to the spark plug wire to check for a good steady fire. Do this on all coil wires to spark plugs. The best time to do this is at night so you can see it fire. You may want to remove the spark plugs and inspect them for a fouling condition. If all is well then look at the cam sensor for the problem. Hope this will help you.

No spark installed new coil and had mogel for the distibutor checked


Check fuses relays and ground wires. The check inside the distributor cap and make sure the piece the rotor inside distributor is clean of oil and the area below hall effect is dry and without oil.The piece down below is also a item that can effect it from firing.it is a magneto and it controls the firing and fuel by sending signals to the ecm. If you check the above without finding an issue the best thing to do is see if you can borrow a scan tool to get any codes that could be helpful with diagnosing. Im sorry if this isnt exact help but it is trail and elimination that fixes issues like this instead of just replaceing parts.
