How do I change the light bulb?

  1. Remove the light bulb cover;
  2. Remove bad light bulb;
  3. Insert new light bulb;
  4. Replace the light bulb cover.
(It sure would be helpful to know what we're talking about. If you want a more specific answer, you will need to specify the YEAR, MAKE, and MODEL of your vehicle, and BE SPECIFIC AS TO WHAT "LIGHT BULB" YOU ARE REFERRING TO). Doesn't that just make good sense? ;)

How to replace the headlamp bulbs in 98 and newer Lincoln Town Cars

In order to replace the bulbs,the headlight assemblies need to be removed from the car.The following instructions make it easy.
The headlights and the grill have a top cover with clips that are unscrewed to remove it..There are about 6 of them.After the cover removal,remove the headlight assembly by pulling up on the two metal tabs on each light assembly or on the later models the few bolts holding in the light assembly.There is an access hole for a 1/4 inch extension to fit through for the bottom bolt.The bolts are 10mm.Then in the middle of the light assembly there is also a plastic tab that must be pushed down with a screwdriver and then the light assembly comes out.Once the electrical connectors are unplugged,the headlight assembly can be removed from the car ,put face down on a towel and disassembled so that the bulbs can be replaced.
The older versions have plastic tabs holding the back covers on,and the newer versions have T 27 torx screws holding the covers together.After the back cover is removed,you will see a collar that holds in the electrical socket that connects to the bulb. mark the collar position with a felt pen.Rotate the collar counterclockwise to remove it.The bulb and socket are then separated and the new bulb installed.Make sure the collar goes on first,as it will not slide over the bulb,only the bulb connector.Seat the new bulb,install the plug onto the bulb then the lock collar and reinstall the back covers.Do not touch the glass bulb surface with your fingers,as the oil will cause the glass to shatter when hot.Handle the bulb by the base only.
Before installing the light assembly into the car plug in the main connectors and check that the light works. If all is o.k., re-install the light into the car.After that, check to make sure that the lock tabs are all in place.Re- install the grill cover and the clips.Make sure that the hole in the grill cover on the driver's side goes over the hood switch for the alarm properly.Check final operation after re-assembly of all pieces.

2005 Cad CTS. Rear brake light went out. Now the blinker on the same side blinks rapidly. I bought the replacement bulb from Auto Zone and have been able to remove the light kit from the back of the car...

There's about four to six plastic knobs to remove cover facing rear end. Pull the spare wheel cover. On each side in the quarter panel remove plastice knobs. Pull back. Each light has two nuts, remove. Pull light covers and change. Took me a 30 minutes, had to clean out the trunk first :). Good luck!

How do I change the license plate lights on a 1997 Lexus ES 300?

Open the deck lid (trunk) to better access the lights. There will be 2 of them. Recommend replacing both at the same time even if only one has failed. Generally sold in pairs anyway.

Directly above the license plate will be mounted 2 clear light covers. On the right side of each light cover you can see a small plastic rivet. Push in the center 1/4 inch with a small screwdriver then you will be able to pry out and remove the rivet without damaging it. This will save you from buying replacement plastic rivets for re-installation. Remove the light cover with the bulb harness attached.

The bulb harness requires a short turn counter clockwise to remove it from the light cover and the new bulbs snap into the harness. No twisting or screwing. Replace the bulb harness the same way and fasten the light cover back into place using the plastic rivet.

Saves time because both bulbs and light covers are exactly the same style, there is no left or right. Cheers!
