Do you have an after market alarm? Sometimes they use those clip on connecters to hook up the lights and they dont hold well causing the brake lights not to work

I had same problem in my GMC. After replacing switch, turn signal switch in steering column, fuses and much more... It was the wire harness going into brake switch. Its very common in the GMCs. Wires get dry rotted and because of the hard bend at clip, they just break. Go to junk yard and get one. Problem solved!!

Check the fuse. If the fuse is good then replace the bulbs.

Hello , do you have amber colored turn lenses or red? I ask this because maybe the bulbs are not dual filament type in the brake light socket. There maybe a brake light fuse also. Do you have a third brake light as well? Does it work? Quinn , Arizona

Where is rear relay for the rear brake lights and rear turn signals for a 1997 gmc sonoma

Check the brake light switch mounted on the brake pedal. It controls them both bc the turn signal and brake bulb are the same one on those trucks.

Brake lights do not light up when peddle is pressed. bulbs have been changed and, fuses are good

If the high mount light works, and you know the bulbs are good, the problem is probably in the turn signal switch.

Where is the brake light relayon 97 4X4 modles brake lights and flrshers not working but bulbs are fine.

Sounds like you have a faulty turn signal switch.Try this.push and hold brake pedal while pushing on and wiggling the hazard switch and if the brake lights come on then replace the turn signal switch.

Is there an adjustment for the stop light switch on a 99 GMC Yukon. I have replace it and my brake lights still do not work. Park lights work fine.

There is no adjustment. The park lights are on a different circuit than the brake lights.
Do you have a third brake light that works. Its also on a different circuit but works from the same switch. Do your turn signals work. They use the same filament as the brake lights.
Also, the brake light circuit goes through the multi function (turn signal) switch.

Since the brake lights and turn signal lights use the same filament in the bulbs, the brake light circuit will pass through the turn signal switch. When a turn signal is used it cancels out the brake light for that side.

Let me know if your third brake light and turn signals work in the rear.
Also, if youy have not already, check/change the bulbs. The type of sockets those lights are in also get burned so look at them well.

No brake lights on 2000 gmc 3500, replaced turn signal switch, all power good at fuse, replaced stop light switch, have directionals & 4ways & parking lights

Does it have a trailer hitch and wiring? If so, check to make sure connector is not shorted out and double check your fuses and/or replace fuse. It may look good but I've seen some that were burned out of inspection view. You might also want to trace wiring back to brake lights, just in case snow or build up pull connectors apart.

I replaced light bulb and brake switch is there anything else that needs to be rp;acedto make brake light work

If you have already check fuses, and brake light's still don't work, it's going to be your turn signal switch, the brake light circit runs thought the brake light switch, if your car has a middle top brake light in back of rear window, most of the time that one will still work, and the turn signal will also work, but not the rear ones brake light's, when turn signal switch is bad, hope this was very helpful.

No brake/hazard lights,have running/turn signal lights

Suggest you change hazard flasher 'can' first, then go to the hazard switch. I'm betting it's the flasher can.
