4wd will not engage in 4HI, 4LO or Auto 4WD

most of the engine power is designed to go to, the back wheels UNLESS the transfer case is in LOCK position in 4 hi or 4 low..also was the front hubs locked in...some models still use lockouts in front..remember this also.. if most of the weight is up front as it is on pickups, the rear wheels are the least resistance for the power so they will move first unless thers enough weight on top of them say sandbags or firewood or just dead weight...(if the truck is used look under the vehicle to see if the front driveshaft was taken out..some folks do this for fuel economy purposes) good luck repost findings please...thnx

How do i lock out the advance weights on a hei distributor

lock them out? No way I know of. I suppose you could remove the weights, but why would you want to? If timed correctly, the weights do not advance timing at idle, only at higher rpm's.

Sometime gear stuck in parking mood only.thanks, Frank

if you are on a slope or hard into a gutter and put the vehicle into park there is locking mechanism in the trans called a parking pawl if you have weight against the parking pawl lever such as a slope or into a gutter ,it will be very hard to get out of park because you have all the weight of your vehicle against the lever what you need to do is pull the hand brake on first so the weight of the vehicle is held by the hand brake ,then put it into park problem solved. regards agwbk

Key won't release steering wheel and can't turn it on. Tried graphfite to no avail.

The key lock cylinder is probably worn out from years of too many heavy keys on the keychain. The extra weight wears on the tumblers in the lock. The ignition lock cylinder probably needs to be replaced.

I have a 2001 pontiac sunfire, and the passengers seat belt is in a locked position and will not let me buckle up. There is NO slack what so ever. I took the seat belt out and went and got another one from...

there is a weight in the base of the seat belt lock that may be stuck. take the cover loose and see if you can push the weight toward the rear of the car. if this works see if there is a chance that the belt lock is leaning forward when tight. when you hit your brakes these weights slide forward and lock the belt they should be tilted the the rear ever so slightly so they return when the car "leans back" hope this helps.

All seat belt retractors now fail to catch when spooled out rapidly in my 1990 Toyota Camry

there is a weight inside those that has to "swing" to lock ,as if you were stopping. Just pulling on them they won't lock up.
Bet they are ok

Power back door works with remote, but won't stay open

how are3 the gas cylinders...are they supporting the weight of the hatch?
if there is a leak the cylinder cannot support the weight of the hatch itself causing it to sit back down and lock the hatch again.

Rear ends locks when in reverse

Yes, it definitly sounds like a fluid problem. However, did you know that there are different weights of rear end lube for different rear ends? I would advice going to the dealership and asking what weight they show for your rear end. You need to first copy the tag # off the rear end so that they can be sure which one you have.
