You need to use jump leads to get the engine going. You cannot tow an automatic otherwise you will damage the gearbox. Either start the engine and drive it to get a new battery or lift the drive wheels off the road first.

2003 ponitac aztec will not shift out of park

brake lights light up? check fuses first. the brake switch on the pedal sends voltage to the shift lock. if you dont have brake lights then change the brake switch. if you have brake lights then you need to check for power at the shifter lock actuator with a test light. im not sure about the aztek but some models have a spot to unlock the shifter in case you have a dead battery and need to be towed. you may have to remove a cover to get to the override, put shifter in neutral then start the car.

Volvo V70 auto estate 1999. Reversing light stays on while ingnition is on!

Most cars have a feature called a neutral safety switch. This device generally provides two functions: first it prevents the starter from being engaged unless the transmission is in neutral or park gear, secondly it turns the back-up lights on and off as appropriate. With age and use this switch can and does fail and more often it needs adjustment. Being a volvo part I do not imagine it is carried in stock at most parts stores, however a dealer's service/parts guy could show you the part, and its location on an illustrated parts breakdown. He also could give you some idea of how often this part creates problems such as yours. You could then make a decision as to whether or not you want to replace yours and whether or not you want to do it yourself.

Hello--- can I tow a 2000 AWD volvo wagon with a dolly? Thanks! order to tow you need rated tow-cable or shock absorbing chains or a tow hitch. you would also need hazard lights that also show which way the towed vehicle is turning (ppl cant see the towing car's turn signals) usually there are magetics ones that hook up to the towing cars trailer light system.
Safe towing by LAW is the issue here...could you tow it with a dolly...yes...but is it against the law..YES and the LAW protects you from hurting yourself, others, and property.
I hope this answers your question. and please be safe. (dont do it)

How to tow a 2003 5.7 liter dodge durango

i am glad you asked
thats i the problem with the electronic select FWD system
when towing a FWD you should put both selectors in neutral this frees the transfer case and the drive shafts
how ever with the electronic system i dont know if it stays in neutral when the car is disconnected from the battery.
so you can make some tryles
  1. put the car in neutral in both selectors "gear and FWD" while the car is running when all the warning bell and stuff have gone off turn off the car
  2. now see if the car can be pushed or towed while the battery is connected
  3. now disconnect the battery and follow step 2
  4. if this works then all is well
i know when towing a FWD car u do need to put the transfer case in neutral to prevent damage
if you have the owners manual check under towing
if you don't, contact your local dealer and see what they say
hope this helps

This is an old post, but I don't see a solution.  In the US, there is a very small switch that can be turned with a small screwdriver that is located on the lower right part of the light switch on the dash.  You can disable the daytime driving lights with this.  In Canada and others, you may not have that, as the driving lights are the law there.
