You should clean the indoor unit filter at least once a month, pressure wash the condenser coil every quarter, and clean the evaporator coil and fans every year.

My car sounds like its clicking on and off when the air conditioner is on

You need to fill the air conditioning system with Freon.
It's the clutch on the air compressor engaging and disengaging because there's not enough pressure in the system.
It's rather easy to do, all auto parts stores have refill kits, in a better store someone can probably go out to your vehicle and spend 5 minutes to show you how to use it.
It's drastically cheaper than taking it to a place to have it done.

With a vehicle only 2 years old though, you shouldn't be having to do this already, unless it's a high mileage car. If you have to keep refilling it more than once a year, you'll have to take it to someone to find the leak.

Air conditioner blows warm air on a 2004 mercury marquis

The air conditioning is a system

It like all systems, has to be properly
diagnosed to find a problem, that was
not done or your wouldn't be here or have
an issue, still

We can not guess for you

You pay a professional & now
want to have folks speculate,not
actually work on solving the a/c issue,
so you can use it!!

We bought the 2004 envoy used and the air conditioner doesn't blow cold air like most hope for including my family. We are moving back to Florida at the end of the month and hope to have our air...

Your best bet is to take it to a repair shop that does air conditioning and they may need to add freon and possibly some dye to determine if there is a leak. You can purchase a kit to add the freon yourself but these systems require a certain amount and over charging the system can also cause problems.

Coolent system fault symbol Audi A6

1998 Audi A6 2.8

It could be that the thermostat is stuck in the open position thus providing maximum coolant flow through the engine when the engine is still cold, ie from a cold start. (The thermo should close when the engine is stopped and cold and it opens up once the coolant temp increases and the engine has been running for a few minutes.) Once the engine is hot maximum coolant flow between engine and radiator is normal.

Do you also find that your heater takes a while to provide warm air to the cabin in winter when you notice this condition?

If you do not know when the thermostat was last changed then I would suggest you change it. ( If it malfunctions and sticks in the closed position you will really have a problem). The radiator/engine coolant could no doubt do with a flush and change in any event as it should be done every 2 years. If you don't know when it was last done - do it. Cooling systems tend to be a neglected part of essential vehicle maintenance.

MAINTENANCE II

1. CHANGE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER. Reset oil life system. Refer to Engine Oil Life System. An Emission Control Service. 2. VISUALLY CHECK FOR ANY LEAKS OR DAMAGE. A fluid loss in any vehicle system could indicate a problem. Have the system inspected and repaired and the fluid level checked. Add fluid if needed. 3. INSPECT ENGINE AIR CLEANER FILTER. If necessary, replace filter. An Emission Control Service. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the California Air Resources Board has determined that the failure to perform this maintenance item will not nullify the emission warranty or limit recall liability prior to the completion of the vehicle's useful life. We, however, urge that all recommended maintenance services be performed at the indicated intervals and the maintenance be recorded. 4. CHECK TIRE INFLATION PRESSURES AND WEAR. 5. INSPECT BRAKE SYSTEM. Visually inspect brake lines and hoses for proper hook-up, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing, etc. Inspect disc brake pads for wear and rotors for surface condition. Inspect other brake parts, including calipers, parking brake, etc. 6. CHECK ENGINE COOLANT AND WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID LEVELS AND ADD FLUID AS NEEDED. 7. PERFORM ANY NEEDED ADDITIONAL SERVICES. Refer to Additional Required Services. 8. INSPECT SUSPENSION AND STEERING COMPONENTS. Visually inspect front and rear suspension and steering system for damaged, loose or missing parts or signs of wear. Inspect power steering lines and hoses for proper hook-up, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing, etc. 9. INSPECT ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM. Visually inspect hoses and have them replaced if they are cracked, swollen or deteriorated. Inspect all pipes, fittings and clamps. To help ensure proper operation, a pressure test of the cooling system and pressure cap and cleaning the outside of the radiator and air conditioning condenser is recommended at least once a year. 10. INSPECT WIPER BLADES. Visually inspect wiper blades for wear or cracking. Replace blade inserts that appear worn or damaged or that streak or miss areas of the windshield. 11. INSPECT RESTRAINT SYSTEM COMPONENTS. Make sure the safety belt reminder light and all your belts, buckles, latch plates, retractors and anchorages are working properly. Look for any other loose or damaged safety belt system parts. If you see anything that might keep a safety belt system from doing its job, have it repaired. Have any torn or frayed safety belts replaced. Also look for any opened or broken air bag coverings, and have them repaired or replaced. (The air bag system does not need regular maintenance.) 12. LUBRICATE BODY COMPONENTS. Lubricate all key lock cylinders, hood latch assembly, secondary latch, pivots, spring anchor, release pawl, rear compartment hinges, outer liftgate handle pivot points, rear door detent link, roller mechanism, liftgate handle pivot points, latch bolt, fuel door hinge, cargo door hinge, locks and folding seat hardware. More frequent lubrication may be required when exposed to a corrosive environment. Applying silicone grease on weather-strips with a clean cloth will make them last longer, seal better and not stick or squeak. 13. REPLACE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AIR FILTER. If you drive regularly under dusty conditions, the filter may require replacement more often.

At what mileage should maintenance be done on the air conditioning system of my 2005 hyundai Santa Fe?

After a vehicle is two years old. I would have my air serviced or checked once a year. You can service it with a gauge from a local parts store. To make sure it has the proper amount of freon in it. And by adding a small can of oil 2.5 ounces to it. the freon guage should read between 25 to 44 psi on the low side and the high side should read 150 to 300 psi

Sounds like the A/C system just needs to be recharged. When was the last time you had this done? Just take it in to your mechanic and he can do it for you and if that's not it for some reason, then he will be able to find the problem but most likely you need more freon added.
