is this right under the battery?

  • angelbaby78 Jul 25, 2009

I think you may be talking about the wrong vehicle. I do not have a truck; the ZX2 is a coupe.

  • angelbaby78 Jul 26, 2009

If that is underneath my battery, then we're in business. I had a battery installed and the speedometer worked fine beforehand. Now, it doesn't work. I'm just trying to figure out if they damaged the sensor during installation!

Speed sensor is located on the trans tailshaft. It has two wires on it. It is driven by the output shaft of the trans.

This is under the truck at the front end of the driveshaft on the transmission

  • Moe Jul 26, 2009

I am sorry about that , my glasses need to be updated but I am too lazy to go to the doc. I thought that the description said Ford 2x2. The sensor is still on the trans output shaft housing. Should be drivers side on transaxle.

I am haveing intermitting failure of a speedometer in a 01 ford zx2 can you help

I imagine it's the speed sensor that is usually in the transmission. Not too hard of a fix. Otherwise its a bad connection, which could be fun to find. Try changing the speed sensor. If that doesnt fix it, take the new one back and put the old back in. If that doesn't fix it, then there is a problem with a connection somewhere. Probably in the dash.

2002 ford escort zx2 camshaft sensor fit a 99 zx2?

Yes, All the years of the ZX2 utilize the same engine. 1998-2003 are all the same except for ECU programing and the MAF wiring. You should not have a problem.

Manual Transmission fluid for Ford Escort ZX2

I know this sounds crazy according to Ford:

You can use-
Motorcraft MERCON Multi-Purpose (ATF) Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX MERCON® Alternative Transaxle Fluid - SAE 75W90 Gear Oil F32Z-19C547-MA API GL-4
You are seeing that right, one instance they call for 75W90 and the other it is ATF. It is ok to run either, 75W90 will give you smoother shifts and less noise.

This transmission is filled through the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) hole.
