Problem with the key ? immobilisor ? check for power to the fuel pump in the tank when you turn ignition on ,if no power then this is your problem ,key has been in pocket near a mobile phone as this will wipe the chip in the key .

I've got a Peugeot 407 HDi 2005 now with a power loss, particularly obvious in low rev range, blowing black smoke - looking like excessive fuel input. Also, it is using a huge amount of fuel.

Is it a diesel. If so it could be the particulate filter blocked, or it could be a failed fuel pump or something internal of the pump, or if a petrol it could be a failed catalytic converter, undo the exhaust and see if that changes, if so then look closely at your exhaust.

Peugeot 407, 2.0 litre diesel, 05,loss of power/air surge heard

I am not familiar with the 407 but I would think it is a HDi, if so what you describe is an air leak from a pipe from the pressure side of the turbo, I have had this on a Saab, in that case there was an over pressure switch under the dash and the pipe fell off. Look at the top of the engine, on the inlet side there will be a pipe from the inlet trunking or manifold, it should (maybe with a tee piece in there) go through the bulkhead

I have a peugeot 206 1.4 hdi 2004 getig no fule to injectors is ther a fule pump in boot .do they have a fule cut off button

You can check the pump anyway, turn the key in ignition so dash lights come on, you should hear the pump come on for a few seconds. This sounds silly but have you also checked the fuse, also have you had the fuel filter changed? I am guessing there is fuel in the tank??...lol.

try hooking up a fuel pressure test gauge to fuel rail pre filter and post filter and rev truck to 2500 rpm what is fuel pressure ?
next using a vacume pump attach to fuel pressure regulator pump up while engine is running only pump up to 8 psi to see if pressure changes if not replace pressure regulator .
it could also be ur speed sensor switch on overdrive transmission
good luck with it
