Symptoms of worn rear shock absorber


To test if your shocks are worn, go to each corner of your vehicle, put two hands on the car, and now pump the corner down hard a few times rapidly, trying to get it to bounce, than quickly let go!, If the car only bounces one or two or three times and stops, they are fine, If any one corner bounces more than two or three times and keeps on bouncing like 5 or 6 times, it's a worn shock. Worn shocks can make it feel like your driving a big ol' loose boat across the road, even in a small vehicle with movement both side to side and up and down, so can worn or loose body bushings, worn suspension parts, under-inflated or broken in or worn out and softened tires. If your ride height seems low it could be worn springs, Shocks are cheap and easy to change, especially the rears. Springs aren't cheap and can be a pain to change on some front ends. Good luck!

Suzuki wagon r+gl check engine light keeps flashing and wont start after battery change


the engine (there are more than one engine)
has a distributor.
"have spark at coil down to dizzy but no spark at plugs"
this can mean only 2 things.
1: spark wires are dead. all 4, kinda hard to believe huh?
2: the dizzy is way off time. so time the dizzy and now spark
lands on each wire term.
if not a dizzy engine, post exact version of engine and country.

Knocking sound at steering wheel during turning of mistubishi adventure


It sounds like a ball joint is worn, possibly the rack end ball joint or tie rod end.
With the bumpy ride it could also be that the front shock absorber has failed.
Jack the front wheel up on each side in turn, grab the wheel at each side and shake it back and forth as hard as you can. If you hear or feel looseness, the problem is in the steering, as above.
Then shake the wheel while holding it at top and bottom. If you feel looseness then, the problem is in the front suspension wishbones.
Repeat this on the other front wheel. Let it down on the ground, then bounce each front corner up and down as hard as you can (you might have to have a second person with you doing this). If you hear a clunk or feel excessive bounciness, it is the shock absorber. When bouncing like this, the car should resist, and not keep bouncing when you let go.

Why would my truck bounce and shake while going down the road


when is this bouncing and shaking taking place? Is it doing it during stopping, is it coming from the rear end or the front? If it is bouncing more to the rear and it doesnt do it as much on braking as driving. Your problem will be rear shocks. Which aren't to bad to replace but if you do don't skimp or you will be in the same boat if you do.If the bouncing is coming from the front and not during braking then you r problem becomes a more broad subject. You could have front shock problem, tie rod problems, control arm ball joint problems. Many things. However if your problem is severe there are only 2 things that i would recommend checking, the tie rods and shocks. ! of those are bound to be the issue. Lastly if this is a problem when your braking mostly (I didnt get the feeling it was but wanted to cover incase) then your problem is going to be a break issue and you will need to replace your pads also check rotors and wheel bearings while your doing that. Feels like back right wheel bounces as driving it. Any suggestions


The strut may be worn out. Try bouncing that corner of the car up and down. It should not continue to bounce after you've pushed it down and up a few times. If it does, time for strut/shock replacement.

Rocks sideways when driving, feel like you are on a boat


Have the shocks/struts ever been replaced? The rocking is normally caused by worn out shocks and/or sway bar bushings. When the shocks go, you normally will experience a rollercoaster type up and down motion when you hit bumps (the springs are bouncing and the shocks are not dampening/rebounding properly). If you do not have this up and down rocking, but just sideways, check your front and rear sway bar bushings for wear or damage to where they connect to the frame. If the mount has broken or come loose, it will not prevent the sideways sway. You should also see a sideways lean going around corners.

Changing distributor on a xr4ti


I realize this is an older post, but maybe it will help. You need a timing light for starters. With the dizzy cap off, point the rotor where the #1cylider post would be on the cap. That will get you close enough to start the engine. Go ahead and start the engine and let it warm for a minute, then disconnect the SPOUT plug and with the timing light, turn the dizzy until the timing gun reads 13 btdc on a manual, 10 btdc on an auto. Plug the SPOUT back in and verify that your timing advanced. Tighten down the dizzy hold-on bolt and then verify your timing didn't change after you tightened the dizzy down.

Now you're good to go!
