My transmission is slipping/not shifting to 3rd gear

first thing to do is always check fluid levels... get car warmed up, then with feet on the brake pedal run it through all the shift positions from park to first...now put in park, leave car running and check the fluid level it shouldnt smell burnt and if low add a small amounts at a time till its brought up to proper level. start with half pints at a time..this isn't like adding car oil.
if this is good then its time to let a transmission shop have a look.

My transmission shifts really good but when im in overdrive driving a steady 60 its slips just a little and slips back, continues till its hot and quits no more slipping

Torque converter lock up clutch is slipping, not good, Its not that it quits slipping when warm, it quits WORKING when warm and is not even trying to lock up any more. Need to have this repaired right away or severe damage will result. Depending on what year it is depends on what is needed for repair. Up until like 2000 it requires the valve be modified and torque converter replaced, after that its seals and torque converter. Any competent trans shop should be able to repair easily.

I got a 2000 monte carlo ls my tranny problem started off only when i turn left it slips...now i slips when i take off and on reverse and some gears **** late....

This sounds like the level is low. Have it checked out. If its full you definately need to go to a Transmisssion shop. Due not take it to a general repair shop. They will recommend a flush possibly.
With that in mind if someone put the wrong fluid in the vehicle this could cause your symptoms.
Had it been serviced just before this started ??
Both a general repair shop and trans shop can read codes out for you if any exist but your best bet is having the reapir done by a specialty shop.

Transmition

Doubtful, unless the unit is low on oil. slipping is caused by low pressure which burns internal clutches etc and can only be cured by replacing them. They are very thin and don't put up with much abuse.

1989 ford t-bird 6cly auto O/D broke just reves also slips

Depends on what auto tranny you have. If you take it to an tranny shop and have an exchange rebuilt put in be prepared to shell out $3500.00 for replacement.

Transmission slips at 40 km/h

seems to me , the 3rd gear shift range is slipping.
You probably have internal failure.
You should take to transmission shop
