Information request relative to a clunking sound in the Steering column of 2005 2500HD Duramax. Any possible fixes available?

I believe there is a Technical Service Bulletin out on it. If I remember correctly, the final solution GM finally came up with was to replace the steering shaft with a redesigned one. You can run your VIN number on the GM website to see if there is a recall on it. Probably will cost $100 in parts if you do it yourself.

06 G6 power Steering kicking in on right turns

GM has an open recall on steering columns and steering motors for these vehicles if they have less then 100000 miles on them and have electronic assisted steering. You may want to contact your local GM dealership to see if your vehicle qualifies. There have also been issues with the rack and pinions on these vehicles but would follow the recall option first.

A low growling noise when turning left only on '04 Silverado

Intermediate shaft is the most likely cause for this and your right there have been issues.

Steering column noise

Same problem. The shaft they lubed is called the intemediate steering shaft. Not a safety issue according to GM. The shaft has to be removed and lubed using a kit and procedure from GM. Not a big deal to do but there are some precautions that need to be taken concerning the air bags/steering coil.

2004 clunking noise thru steering!

Its probably the intermediate steering shaft. The shaft where it goes thru the firewall is known for clunking on these trucks. GM makes a lube kit to fix the noise. I don't have the part number handy, but the parts guy at the local dealer will know what you are looking for.

Good Luck
