http://www.troublecodes.net/honda/

we always fix spark first, cant burn fuel with bad spark.
so code 14.
the CKP is bad, or not plugged in

ever seen an FSM
http://hondatech.info/downloads/Auto/Manuals/Civic/

im not sure above, covers 14s.
but it is a malfing CKP sensor and the ECU never lies about that.

the signal is weak or dead, or drops out 1 in 10 hits.

I read the check engin light on my 1993 toyota camry le and it gave me to codes: DTC:14 and DTC:26... What could be wrong with my car?

Code 14: Igniter circuit, probably a faulty igniter
Code 26: Fuel mixture too rich, possibly a faulty coolant temperature sensor, or faulty oxygen sensor

I have a 1989 Honda civic just had a rebuild what i thought was a blown head gasket turned out to be holes burned into 2 valves.since the rebuild it soots up the spark plugs bad it flashes codes 1 then 10...

Code 1 Oxygen Content-
Code 10 Intake Air Temperature (IAT)
Code 14 Idle Air Control (IAC) valve
Sounds like the oxygen sensor (code 1) is recieving more fuel content (or unburned fuel) than it can measure...
The intake air temperature sensor isn't reading within range because...
The Idle air control valve (basically an electronic choke) isn't opening up to allow enough air into the engine to create a clean fuel burn, creating burned valves (probably intake valves) from unburned fuel.

How do you shut off the check engine light?

If you are trying to reset the check engine light, you remove the EFI fuse from the engine compartment for about a minute. If there is a problem, it will soon light up again. This is where the EFI fuse is located. As you face the front of the 4Runner, you will see the battery at the front right. The FUSE BOX is just beyond the battery. The top of the fuse box has a panel which identifies each fuse. The EFI fuse is the MIDDLE FUSE, closet to the right fender. If you're talking about the maintenance reminder light reset button, its to the left of the guages, labeled "reset"

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON CODE P0170

DTC P0170 applies to fuel trim malfunction on all 2.4L vehicles, 3.0L Federal vehicles and right bank (bank 1) on 3.0L California vehicles.
DTC P0173 applies to fuel trim malfunction on left bank (bank 2) on 3.0L California vehicles.
DTC Set Criteria (2.4L)

Engine is in closed loop control. Intake air temperature is more than 14°F (-10°C). Barometric pressure is more than 11 psi (76 kPa). Volume Airflow (VAF) sensor output frequency is 88 Hz or more. Code will set if long-range fuel correction is less than -12.5 percent, or more than +12.5 percent, for 5 seconds and short-range fuel correction is less than -10 percent, or more than +10 percent, for 5 seconds.

On 3.0L Federal code will also set if short-range fuel correction is less than -13.5 percent, or more than +13.5 percent, for 5 seconds.

Have the O2 Sensor changed on the Right Bank, ( passenger side of the Engine, or where the # 1 cylinder is.)
Good luck and hope this helps

FUEL FAIL 14 CODE 14

this is the most common error code, just means the one of the nods in fuel pump misfired, on every model other than the ones for usa market, after clearing the error code on vcm the check engine light would reset. for our cars its programmed to stay on.
also get fail 17 fuel 17 same thing
it will not effect the running of the car or its performance
may run a little rich
