Question about Mazda Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 1998 Mazda B2500 (5-speed) with over 224,000 miles. I had the plugs, wires and timing belt replaced over 6 years ago. Lately, it has been idling rough with a "ticking" like noise.

I know this will sound Stupid But, Change the Cap Cap. If the Seal is Bad on the Cap it will allow air Into the Fuel tank and Cause your Rough Idle.

SOURCE: how to replace a PCV valve on my 1997 dodge neon?

Once you have the new PCV valve locate the old one on your engine. It will sit on the middle of one of your valve covers (most likely passenger side) and will have a line that connects to the top of the valve. Simply pull the old one out and put the new one in snapping that line on the new one. Should only take about a minute to do. Hope this helps, let me know if it does.

1992 mazda mpv, 6 cyls. it occurs a year ago after tune up. its luck power. during smog test, and now it cranks but wont go through when it start. changed the rotor, spurk plugs and cable

Check your gas for possible water. Just in case try a can of SEAFOAM in your gas. It will take about 10 min of running to work. Also recheck the gap on the spark plugs it should be .044 gap. One other thing to check is the firing order and make sure the wires were put back in the right place to the right spark plug

1995 Mazda 626 -what is the firing order on a 2,5lt engine? I have # one turned to the top and the timing mark on the crank is right on but the rotor is on #6 plug. Doesn't make sense to me. When I turn it...

I read that the firing order was '1,2,3,4,5,6' which is easy to remember: prev.gif next.gif FIRING ORDERS NOTE: To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired. Hi, my first recommendation would be to take the plugs out and visually inspect each one and check to make sure they are properly gapped, if they look fouled at all i would replace them without hesitation. try throwing a set of NGK plugs in the car to fix the misfires. other than that you may want to look at the wires. good luck joe

The MFGR doesnt have a recommended interval for replacing the timing belt but 45-90k miles is most common for this vehicle with the 3L engine.

doubt that it is the timing belt. sounds like your piston rings are starting to go. I could be wrong. best thing to is check the timing first. if it is in time pull the oil dip stick and smell it to see if it is burning

Timing Belt

Safe bet on a timing belt is every 60k miles. Remember it's not just the belt - it's the tensioner also, as well as the water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, spark plug wires, all fluids, all filters, brake inspection, tire rotation, and an inspection of lighting and suspension parts. Plan to pay quite a bit if you don't do it yourself.
