How do i check for codes?

1989 nissan d21 hardbody 2.4L i want to check for codes the ECU have a ON/OFF toggle switch how do i operated the switch to read the codes how do this system work? when i turn the ignition switch ON and the toggle switch ON the Red and Green light on the ECU both flash at the same time is this the way it work?

Turn on and off three times don't start then will flash two flashes will 2 small gaps four flashes will be 4 that mean you have code # 24.at the end will be 5 and 5 means 55 and of codes.

    when i turn the ignition switch on and the toggle switch on that is on the side of the ECU both red and green light flashes in the ECU at the same time, i didn't see any light flashing in the dash what is the toggle switch for that is on the side of the ECU?

    the ECU on this vehicle have a on/off toggle switch when I check for codes what position I put the toggle switch in? I did do this test I turn the ignition switch on and the toggle switch on and the red and green light both start flashing at the same time do both suppose to flash at the same time am I doing it the correct way?

    no I'm not close to autozone the engine want start i would have to haul it to auto zone i don't want to do that when i turn the key on i don't see the check engine light come on in the dash.

look at your catalyst sticker under the hood. it will tell you where before top dead center your piston should be before combustion.

Clutch release bearing, '89 Nissan D21 p/u, 2.4L eng.


Yes the tranny and bell housing need to be removed. It is a lot of HEAVY work but pretty straight forward.
