OK try this, turn ignition on for about 20 minutes then turn off and try to start it again. It sounds like will need a new ignition switch and lock cylinder.

Dome light on my 1998 gmc suburban wont shut off

Maybe your door switch button has broken off. Sometimes I bump my dash light dimmer wheel (which also turns on my dome light) and it stays on in my 93 Chevy pickup

1999 GMC Suburban Wont Turn Over

It sounds like you have a security problem, I had the same thing it would fire and run for half of a second and then that was it if anything at all. Had the security system rebooted, now it starts and runs fine.

1999 suburban starter replaced battery good turns over eratic

The starter may be binding on the flywheel/flex plate. Your new starter should have come with shims. Try putting them between the starter and the block one at a time and see if that helps.

98 Sierra 3/4ton 4x4 turbo wont start

When you turn the key to on, the dashlights have to come on and go off when you turn it to the starting position. Make sure you have a good battery first. No dash lights indicate a bad ignition switch. Check all fuses and relays. But I am pretty sure it is the ignition switch.
