Won't turn OFF? Sounds like a failed or shorted blower switch, or shorted wiring to the switch!

Check to see if you have a failed or rusted resistor block, especially at the electrical connections.

If you suspect that the motor might be bound up (wont turn), for any reason, WITHOUT have to take the motor out of the vehicle (probably not easy), HOT WIRE the motor in electrical series with a headlamp, which which will start out bright for an instant, then will dim down as the motor starts turning, due to a phenomenon in DC motors called "back emf." The voltage will divide between the blower motor and the headlamp, so you wont burn out anything including wires!

Heater fan not working

Smack it and see if it comes on. If it does then the motor brushes are bad. If it does not come on, check the fuses. If the fuses are ok, check the voltage on the plug to the motor.

First check the fuse,if ok. Check if you still get power to the blower motor, on the plug, if so. you need to replace the blower motor and resistor. if not check power supply to blower switch, and power after the switch, if you turn switch on and off.

Pushed in cig lighter and htr motor and radio quit, fuses OK. 89 vette

Looks strange what you said. Since you pushed the cigarette lighter in,means that made a contact to receive power to heat the element. Since you asked for that and immediately you have lost Radio and Heater, means that either you had somewhere a bad contact and blown the fuse for radio and heater. Now having as you said fuses okay surely is strange. If you can,try to remove the the dash holding the cigarette lighter and see at the back where the wires are and see if you have any bad contact.or some radios have an extra glass fuse see if is any check if is blown. the same also for the heater. Always work with ignition OFF,to avoid any contact .

No Power to Heater

by heater i take it you mean the blower motor.these work on a fuse and or relay and a set of resistors.but start by checking the fuse as you said you have no poower.if the fuse is ok then check for power at the plug on the blower motor, you will have to disconnect the plug at the blower motor and have a tester placed on 12 volts to perform this test.turn ignition to the on position and turn on the heater unit, you should have a reading of some kind .if you have up to 12 volts then the wiring and fuseare ok. the problem then would be the blower motorbut after removal you could always check the motor by hooking it up to a 12 volt power source to see if it turns.

My Blower motor for my heater on a 99 ford escort is not working. Is it the motor or resister that is gone??the fuses look ok where is the resister located can you send a diagram

look in passenger foot well on blower case for 4 wire connector.

Behind right side of I/P, A/C-heater plenum

resister bad would still allow high speed. may be blower motor.

  • The blower motor does not operate/does not operate correctly
  • Open fuse.
  • Tripped circuit breaker.
  • Circuitry open/shorted.
  • Heater blower motor switch (18578).
  • Heater blower motor switch resistor (18591).
  • Blower motor relay.
  • Blower motor.
