I have a 97 blazer 4wd i repalced vaccum switch all vaccum lines and made sure actuator cable was good lights come on like im in 4wd but diff doesnt lock in and actuator not getting vaccum

The vacuum actuator should move by hand without vacuum applied. You should also be able to see it move if you have someone switch the transfer case into 4hi/lo from 2wd and then back again. There is a vacuum switch on top of the transfer case that locks vacuum once the encoder motor engages the transfer case to lock the front axle into position, and then releases the vacuum once the encoder switches back into 2wd mode allowing the front axle to decouple. If you aren't getting vacuum, first check your vacuum lines for leaks, then check for vacuum coming from the transfer case when it's in 2wd mode.

When in 4wd front tires dont spin when stuck. 99 silverado 1500

check for b+ at the front axle actuator,if you have b+ at the actuator it is the actuator,if not check for b+ at your transfer case switch,if it is electric,if it is vaccum check for vaccum at the switch.if you have b+ or vaccum it is the switch.hope this helps.

2003 chevy s10 4.3L quad cab. Pushbutton 4wd. Have to back up to get out of 4wd. I've read that it might be a vacuum line or the actuator on the side of the transfer case. I'd like more specific info....

I don't know if this is true about these 4WD units, but on my uncle's F-150, if you really jam 'er in gear and work 'er hard in 4WD, the gears bind, and are under tension, and putting it in reverse tends to relieve the tension on the gears. Might try putting it in Neutral and revving it up to about 1500 RPM to see though if the vacuum is not sufficient to pull it out of 4WD.

There is a clicking sound in the front of my Ford F-150 only when its in 4-wheel drive. Its a 2006 and only has 46,000 miles on it. Could it be a vaccum problem or is it an actuator problem?

I would say this is an issue with the IWE ( Integrated Wheel End ) itself, if the noise only happens in 4WD, the vacuum sounds like it is holding the IWE gear out if it is quite in 2WD. The IWE spring might not be fully engaging the gear.
Could also be a case of the IWE not being held out in 2WD, and the IWE gears are rounded off already, but this would have taken some time to do.

Either way you need to dissemble the IWE and check the gears and the spring. If the IWE gears are chewed up, they need repalcing, but at the same time the vacuum lines and IWE solenoid needs to be checked to see why it did not hold the IWE gear out, causing the gear to get shewed up.

How to test 4wd actuater for 90 chevy pick up

The 4x4 system on an 88-98 full size gmtruck is controlled electronically except the shifting of thetransfer case which is done with a lever. When the transfer case isshifted into a 4x4 gear a switch in the upper driver side of thetransfer case is closed this sends power to the front axle actuatorwhich engages the front wheels to the front axle. A sensor is alsolocated on the front axle which is closed when the actuator shiftsthe axle into gear.

The first thing to check is the 4x4fuse if it is bad replace it.
Next check the switch on the transfercase connect a continuity tester to the switch and shift the transfercase into 4x4 the stitch should close, if it dose not replace it ifthe switch is functioning properly replace actuator on front axle

4/04 ford f150 4x4 front axle actuator won' t stay disengaged

Even though you checked the vacuum lines and found no leaks it does not mean there isn't a problem. The check valve in the line closest to the firewall actuator is probably your problem. Had the same issue replaced this line and solved it. The check valves in the vacuum lines are your best next guess.

91 trooper stuck in neutral

possible range selection detent switch not working causing to get stuck some times in one range only and wont shift to other range 4wd light in dash just keeps flashing for about 10 seconds then goes to previous state this then can jam up 2wd 4wd lever that you then cannot move.
there are 3 switches 2 on trans/transferr case, 1 on front LH diff axle tube actuator (shift on fly). can cause damge to the electric actuator then on transferr case.
suggest you get a dealer to look at or some one that knows this system. is also vaccum operated on front diff shift on fly unit and there were 2 different systems fitted to these vehicles push button 4wd on dash and lever next to gear lever which i take is yours

Ford F150 4x4 Passenger side hub

The gear on the 4 wheel drive actuator and possibly the hub is stripped.
Remove wheel and brakes and take the four 18mm bolts out of the back and remove the cap on the end of the hub and take off a 12 mm nut. It should then come apart so you can see whats going on.

I repaired this problem on my 1998 F150 4.6L. It had a bad vaccum line between the vaccum check valve and the vaccum storage tank. The vaccum check valve is located between the battery and the firewall. The vaccum storage tank is attached to the rear of the battery case.
