How to replace turnsignal switch on 88 toyota truck

Hi Pawpaw, Remove the steering wheel using the correct type of puller. Remove the surrounding cowling from the steering column. Disconnect the electrical multi socket. The switch assembly is held in place by four screws. Remove them and the unit. Fit the new unit in reverse procedure. Regards John

My back break lights are not working the inside lights stay on when car is off car says hazard ligths are on when they are not and when car is off it beeps like you left the keys in the ignition when they...

beeping maybe light on warning instead of key warning. Brake lights go through the hazard and turnsignal switch. Hazards may not be flashing due to bad flasher, but may be turned on. Most likely possibility is hazard switch contact in combination switch (hazard and turnsignal switch in one unit). Unplug the turnsignal switch at the bottom of the steering column and see if the problems go away, and you will know if that is it.

I have to replace multi-function turnsignal lever.

After not getting an answer from anyone on this site, I went back out to car, and figured it out by myself. Amazingly, it was rather simple. After unhooking wire connector from multi-function lever, all that needed to be done was pull lever out of column. It took a little twisting back and forth, and a firm pull on lever. There is an 'e-clip' that holds lever inside of hole in column, plus a slot on hole, and a '***' on lever. Had to twist back and forth slightly while pulling firmly. Unfortunately after trying a different lever, I realized that the problem is the turnsignal switch, a whole new can of worms to contend with.

Intermittent clicking sound of turn signal seems to increase in warm/hot weather

Short in turnsignal switch will cause this. Next time it happens, put slight upward pressure on turnsignal lever and if sound changes you need a new turnsignal switch
