Working on a 2001 mercury grand marquis the ac temperature door is not working. could this be a bad head unit or just an electrical problem at the actuator?

I'm working on a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis. The EATC works all door modes except for temperature, I replaced the temperature door actuator because it wasn't doing anything when the temperature setting were increased and decreased.

I need to know if there is an external heater control valve on the eatc unit in my 2003 grand marquis /

This vehicle does NOT use a heater control valve. Coolant flows to the heater core at all times. Temperature is regulated by the blend air door and blend door actuator. Locate the blend door. Remove the actuator and open the door by hand. If you get heat, the actuator or the control head is bad. FWIW, the actuator is the most likely cause

I have a 2001 mercury grand marquis ls. it overheats when im driving it but don't shows it on the temperature hand ..what is the problem ??

The temperature switch on the side of the upper radiator hose is not working. That is, if the engine is hot. Boiling over - need to check thermostat. Grab on to upper hose (should be hot) than with engine off, grab bottom radiator hose. It also should be same temperature as top. If so, thermostat ok. Electric radiator fan - turn Ac on. Fans should run. No, check fuses & relay. Mechanical fan - with engine off, the blade should be stiff to turn. Easy, replace fan clutch. Usually, low level of water is most common. Wish you well.

How do I remove the mildew smell when I turn on the ac in my 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis?

air filters when used are on the inlet side of the blower motor
that normally puts then behind the glove compartment so the glove box has to be removed to get to them
use a charcoal type filter to help reduce odour.

Ac only works for heat

Perform a self test on heater control head if it's electronic,... push floor and off button at the same time with key on, release, then press the auto button one time. This puts control head into self test. If you hear a clicking noise from your glove box area, probably a bad temperature blend door, also it will show a code on control head code here or Google it. Hope that helps. . Please rate if it helps you.

Climate control codes

I have checked every site that I can think of and run the question many times, unable to get the procedure, maybe a nice tech at the local dealer will help u out, if not I guess buying a service manual might be your only option. I am a retired Ford mechanic, I did almost all the AC work, I never found this problem was a control head issue, it was always the blend door electric motor, I think you can see it from the glove box if you remove the liner.
