SOURCE: How do I remove the front driveshaft on a 2003 TrailBlazer?

there are two types, one will use a slide type joint rubber insul, and will have small bolts holding it to transfer case. the other type will have no bolts and pops in to transfer case, to remove this type you use a small pry bar and pop it out like a cv axle out of transmission, it uses a c clip to lock itself in, wedge pry between transfer case and joint and give a pull.

1) Be certain the transmission is in neutral.

3) Cut the clamp on the dust boot and pull the boot back
4) Be sure again to mark where the drive shaft is to get it back in the exact location.
5) Remove the 4 bolts (11mm) on the driveshaft on the yoke end.

Trying to change u-joints front and rear on driveshaft? any advice or assistance would be appreciated..

firt you will need to remove the drive shaft by un bolting it from the rear end. U joints are held in with a small clip on some, others have a cover which is bolted on over the end of the u joint. once you remove the clips or cover drive out u joint with a hammer replace with new one insert clips or cover install driveshaft greese all fittings.

you will need a big socket to remove the axle nut--about 20 mm or so. Other than that, I don't think so. Procedures from autozone.com below. it doesn't mention having to press bearing into hub.

Removal & Installation

  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

Front wheels Hub nut Brake caliper Rotor ABS sensor Wheel hub from steering knuckle and driveshaft Wheel bearings

here's an escort, should be similar. note step 17

Removal
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  1. Remove the lug nuts (1012) and the front wheel and tire assembly.
  1. Remove the front fender splash shield bolts and the front fender splash shields (16103) .
  1. Use a small cape chisel to carefully raise the staked portion of the front axle wheel hub retainer (3B477).

  1. Remove the front axle wheel hub retainer and discard it.
  1. Remove the cotter pin and the tie rod end nut from the tie rod end (3A130). Discard the cotter pin.

  1. Use an appropriate tie rod end remover to separate the tie rod end from the front wheel knuckle (3K186).

  1. Remove the ball joint bolt and the ball joint bolt nut.

  1. Carefully pry down on the front suspension lower arm (3078) to separate the front suspension lower arm ball joint (3050) from the front wheel knuckle.

  1. Pull outward on the front wheel knuckle (3K185). Carefully pull the front wheel driveshaft and joint from the front wheel knuckle and position it aside.

  1. NOTE: Removal of the LH front wheel driveshaft and joint (3B437) requires removal of the transmission support crossmember (6A023) to allow access with a pry bar. If the LH front wheel driveshaft and joint is being removed, continue with step 11. If the RH front wheel driveshaft and joint is being removed, continue with step 15.

Gently pry outward to release the front wheel driveshaft and joint from the differential side gears (4236).

  1. Remove the front wheel driveshaft and joint.

  1. stf~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: When the LH and RH front wheel driveshaft and joint assemblies are removed, Transaxle Plugs T88C-7025-AH must be inserted to prevent the differential side gears from becoming mispositioned. If the gears become misaligned, the differential will have to be removed from the transaxle to align the gears.
If both front wheel driveshaft and joints were removed, install Transaxle Plugs T88C-7025-AH in the differential side gears.
  1. Remove and discard the driveshaft bearing retainer circlip (3Z498).

How do you remove axles on a 2000 hyundai accent?

Very carefully. 1. Loosen the wheel nuts slightly. 2. Raise the front of the vehicle, and support it with safety stands in a proper location. 3. Remove the wheel nuts and front wheel. 02590df.jpg 4. Remove the split pin, the castle nut and the washer from the front hub. 5. Drain the transmission fluid before the driveshaft is removed. 6. Using a plastic hammer, make the driveshaft disconnected from the axle hub.
1817034.jpg 7. Push the axle hub outward and separate the driveshaft from the axle hub. 8. Insert a pry bar between the transaxle case and the tripod joint case, and pry the driveshaft from the transaxle case.
4d4e228.jpg caution_icon_eng.gif Be sure to apply the pry bar to the rib of the transaxle case. Do not insert the pry bar too deeply, as this may cause damage to the oil seal. [max. depth : 7 mm (0.28 in.)] For automatic transaxle equipped vehicles, insert a pry bar into the groove of the driveshaft to remove the driveshaft from the transaxle. Do not pull on the driveshaft; the joints may come apart. Be sure to use the pry bar. 9. Pull out the driveshaft from the transaxle case. caution_icon_eng.gif Place a plug in the hole of the transaxle case to prevent contamination Support the driveshaft properly. Replace the circlip each time the driveshaft is removed from the transaxle case.
