Actually, I could not turn the key off, nor could the car start. Believe it or not, I turned the headlights on and off, and then everything worked fine: The car starts and I can get the key out.

    Thanks for trying to help.

I'am glad to hear it . Maybe using some lock cylinder lubricant , graphite will keep it from happening again ! Don't know without looking when it's happening , these vehicle have safety systems that keep the shifter from being move from park into gear without your foot on the break . Also won't let you turn the key off under some instances . Has electrically controlled solenoid in the steering column . Turning on an then off the headlamps , i don't know ! Could have same power supply .

Electronic Park Lock (EPL)/Ignition Lock Cylinder Control Actuator: If the vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission and a floor mounted console gear shift, it has an ignition lock cylinder control actuator system in the steering column. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator purpose is to prevent the ignition key from being turned to the OFF position when the transmission is in any position other than PARK and the vehicle may still be moving. The column ignition lock system consists of an ignition lock cylinder control actuator, and a park position switch that is located in the automatic transmission shift lock control switch. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator contains a pin that is spring loaded to mechanically prevent the ignition key cylinder from being turned to the lock position when the vehicle transmission is not in the PARK position. If vehicle power is lost, and/or the transmission is not in the PARK position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column.

2011 Buick lacrosse replaced battery car started then died after 15sec. No pwr checked all fuses-relays-cables-key stuck in column can't unlock to move cars. any ideas dealer no help.

Since you have no power to the ignition switch( you can't get the key out). Look to the main fuses first. You can see them threw the top. If the solder joint isn't shiny, pull them first. Since it did start and run, it isn't the ignition switch. Wiring most likely in place. Fuse panel could be bad. I've replaced a lot of them. But not with out diagnostics.

I have my key stuck in the ignition of my 2007 Buick Lacross. How do I get it out.

Sounds like the battery or the ignition switch has gone bad. The key won' release until the shift lock solenoid is energized to allow the key to turn all the way back.

I have a 2005 buick lacrosse that would not start when i was ready to go home from work today. I had someone give me a jump and it fired right up. on the way home the DIS showed the battery was at 14.3...

It will show a charging sytem failure with the key on and the engine not running due to it can not charge with the egine not running. If it was showing 14.3 volts while the car was running it is safe to say your charging system is ok and you have a bad battery that needs replaced.
