Question about Cars & Trucks

2 Answers

My truck was hesitating when I get on the gas so I had my plugs changed. I had a P0113 code, which is the IAT sensor, I currently changed that sensor and it's doing the same. What else could it be?

To know for sure , ( not guessing ) Have a qualified repair shop do some diagnostics , testing ? Drive it with a factrory scan tool hooked up . This would see what sensor is the culprit , if it is a sensor problem . TPS - throttle position sensor , map sensor , mass air flow sensor etc.... You would want to replace all these an not have it fix it . Besides it's probably still under warranty , if you bought it new .

What is P0113 mean for a 01 merc cougar?

Intake air temperature sensor circuit. It is located between the air filter and engine. Small 2 wire plug. These rarely go bad. Usually it is a wire broke. And they usually break right at the plug.

Oldsmobile codes

P0113 is Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input, Internally failed IAT sensor Faulty connection at IAT sensor Open in IAT ground circuit or signal circuit Short to voltage in IAT signal circuit or reference circuit IAT harness and/or wiring routed too close to high-voltage wiring (e.g. alternator, spark plug cables, etc.) Faulty PCM (less likely but not impossible)

P0172 is Fuel Trim System Rich Bank 1, Faulty front heated oxygen sensor
- Ignition misfiring
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Exhaust gas leaks
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor

P0304 is Cylinder # 4 Misfire,
Known Failure Points:
1. Plugs- specifically Bosch Platinum plugs tend to self-destruct
2. Ignition Control Module- Kinda a "go" or "no-go" type thing. When it fails, you most likely won't be able to start your car.
3. Coil Pack Housing (usually white, some aftermarket are black) - Seems like an unlikely part to go, but from what I hear the plastic can breakdown and cause crossfiring.
4. Coil Pack- Haven't had a bad one yet, but it's entirely possible.
5. Plug Boots- If they're old, they might dry out and crack due to the high heat they are exposed to. Again, not very likely, but when all else fails.

  • Internally failed IAT sensor
  • Faulty connection at IAT sensor
  • Open in IAT ground circuit or signal circuit
  • Short to voltage in IAT signal circuit or reference circuit
  • IAT harness and/or wiring routed too close to high-voltage wiring (e.g. alternator, spark plug cables, etc.)

Took my focus 2003 to autozone it is going thru alot of gas and we changed the spark plugs they ran a test and the codes are po113 & po303 i do not know what this means can you help me

P0113 indicates the IAT Intake Temperature Sensor has a problem.
P0303 indicates a misfire on cylinder 3

I believe the IAT is built into the MAF sensor located in the air snorkle and helps regulate the air/fuel mixture. Also concentrate on cylinder 3 looking for problems such as injector, wiring, etc.

Hope this helps!
