Question about 1997 GMC Sierra K2500

2 Answers

I need to change the power steering line on my 1997 GMC sierra ex cab 4x4 and want to know if I need to pay attention to how it is done. It looks like I just need to undo the bolts at both ends of the line and replace it with the new one. What else do I need to consider before attempting this. Thanks Chris

Just remove and replace the line, but do it quickly to avoid too much air from getting into the system as it drains out. On start up, do not rev up the engine at all or you aerate the oil and have problems. When you cycle there steering from left to right do it at an idle and it slowly, again, you do not want to aerate the oil. good luck.

Most likely it is just the 4x4 switch that isn't working Replaced mine in my 2000 blazer for 60bucks. This should fix the problem if not then you will be looking at a good chunk of change for the module for the transfer case. Steve

replace the fuel sender unit. I don't know why they go bad, but once you do, it should fix the problem.

I have a 1997 GMC Sierra Ex-Cab, It shakes from the rear while braking, Have tried new shoes, new Drums, new Slave Cylinder, and New Shocks. Nothing Works

try getting the new drums resurfaced. often times they are out of round when they are brand new, especially the less expensive ones. at my shop, we cut every new drum before it goes on a vehicle. good luck!

I have a 1997 gmc sierra ext cab 4x4 and I have to keep replacing the belt every 6 months so that it won't squeak. I also replaced the tensor with the same result.

I had the same problem with the after market serpentine belt, i replaced it with the OEM and found it not to squeak. Have a closer look at the V groves on the belt and the pulley, I found the V grove on the belt had a different size then the groves on the pulley making them squeal. Good luck and hope this helps.
