Question about Rover Cars & Trucks

Open Question

I have a Rover 75 and would like to know if the roof can be split along the plastic seam covers. If so, I want to look at replacing it with one that has a factory sunroof in it. Thank you. Terry.

SOURCE: 95 GRND CHEROKE sunroof supports have come loose and it leaks.

The bigest problem with this model jeep sunroof is the cable conduit in the rear of sunroof is broken loose. can be accesed by removing the headliner. But the tracks are accessed from the sunroof opening after removing the glass. the part department at the dealership can give you a breakdown basicly the only replacable parts are the tracks, Price about $200.00 each.

Replace the wheel cylinder on the wheel where you see it leaking then bleed brake system you ought to be ok on your brakes. As for the sun roof sounds like part of the track system is stripped happens all the time on automatic shoulder belts you can hear the motor running but no movement.

SOURCE: My 2002 Land Rover SE

same thing happened to me in a parking garage.. i needed to go to the hardware store and get one of those drill bits that extracts bolts.. i think it was 1/4" size but you should check to see with a 1/4" drill bit..
if it broke off so you have some access to plastic housing.. then its easy with pliers but if yours did what mine did, all you are left with is an antenna housing with a plugged screw hole..
good luck

How can I repair a98 Honda Civic 4 door. Moon roof wont close all the way. Seams to be on an angle when closing. What can I do?

Can you help it along by lifting one side? Or by tugging one side down?

I'm betting it has plastic slide bushings, and one has worn completely out. Getting it out & getting a replacement one in will be a challenge... there may be quite a lot to take apart & put back together.

I assume you are guessing that its the cam sensor?

Best to pop along to your local Garage and have a diagnostic test carried out.. should cost around forty pound uk....takes the guesswork out of the equation.

There is a puddle of oil behind the throttle plate in my 97 land rover discovery.why? there is a breather hose that goes from the valve cover to the mantafold plenum is there supposed to be a pcv valve or...

My 96 Discovery has a plastic baffles inside the valve cover port that connects to the hose. If it got brittle and cracked, then oil could leak by. Its cheap and easy to replace, along with the hose. There is a second hose on the other side to replace as well. Land Rover was proud to pass emissions standards without using exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The whole system is sealed, so all the air entering the engine is being metered by the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, unless your breather hoses crack and leak. Unfortunately, oil in your location might also indicate other engine trouble, such as worn piston rings (causing pressure in the crankcase). I would try replacing the plastic baffle piece first.

Sunroofs off track and wont close

If your indicating the roof is crooked, that's odd... The roof slides along a channel actuated by a coiled cord.

Both of the cords pass along a gear attached to the Sunroof motor which pulles the cord tooth by tooth, impossible to go crooked unless really jammed or tampered with.

There are two plastic wedges that drop into the plastic slides on the sunroof (the plastic slides are behind the more forward metal slides.)

The plastic slides control the tilt of the roof when moved independantly. The plastic wedges join them.

If the roof moves too far back, it is possible for the wedges to stick up and jam the roof open.

This should never happen, but could if the two switches on the gear fail and no longer provide feedback to the controller indicating the roofs position.

Access to the Sunroof motor requires you to drop the headliner.

To drop the headliner, the plastic pillar shrouds need to be removed front and back, the seatbelt bolts in the middle secion need to be removed, the oh-**** handle, the front visors, and cabin lights.

Hope the info is helpful.

The seams should slide off just pull from the bottom of the seams, there is a section of the plastic guide missing where they come out, a bit wd40 should ease them out if there tough to pull.
