1 more way is ther but takes time ,quit more.

try to weld front differential where oil is gonna leak & but do this when your all oil is out of differential case than it will happen baater so,

another way is 1 solution which is highly recommanded for this type of crack in differentials,which still i cant get that name but at branded service center they will do for your differentials case.

SOURCE: 2005 Yukon Front Diff Axle seals

You don't have to remove the whole diff to change the seals, but you will have to seperate it where the shaft meets the carrier housing. There is a clip holding the passenger axle shaft in place that you have to remove to change the seal. The drivers side axle stub can be removed with a little force as there is a spring clip holding that side in.

just yank it up tight with a bar about 50cms long,their should be collapsable spacer between the taper bearings just tighten it like a professional without overtightening it so and shearing something .handfull of grease in the diff casing to slow/stop any oil leaks top up with ep 90 and away you go,the crownwheel to pinion setting is just a little wiggle woggle ,or you could use a dial gauge but its quicker and easier ,too tight and it whines and too much play and it clunks,nice little wiggle woggle and it will work fine .trust me

the country with not ONE< JIMNY,
but i can answer
there are 4 ways to tow this is but 1.
backwards towing is best way or drop rear drive shaft (ask)
flat tow 101:
the Jimny is SJ413 here,called Samurai.
the transfer case sets this rule (most rear device)
that rules is dont flat tow it, more that 200 miles
the rear bearing has no lube actions towed
here is the near same transmissions.

and rules (of xfr case)
ill quote my 2001 Vitara, (same setup.)

Follow these steps:
1. Set the parking brake.
2. Shift your automatic transmission into PARK (P), or
your manual transmission to SECOND (2).
3. With the ignition key in the ON position, move the
transfer case to NEUTRAL and make sure the 4WD
light on the instrument panel cluster is off. See
"Four-Wheel Drive" in the Index.
4. Turn the ignition key to ACC to unlock the
steering wheel.
5. Release the parking brake
If you tow your four-wheel-drive vehicle from
the front, make sure to move the transfer case
into NEUTRAL or your vehicle could be badly
damaged and the damage would not be covered
by your warranty.
Stop towing every 200 miles (300 km) and start the
engine. Leave the transfer case shift lever in
NEUTRAL. Shift your automatic transmission to
DRIVE (D); leave a manual transmission in
SECOND (2) with the clutch engaged. Run the engine at
medium speed for one minute to circulate oil in the
transfer case. Turn the ignition key to ACC. Now, you
can continue towing your vehicle.
The front wheels transmit shocks during towing.
The steering column may not be strong enough to
withstand the shocks. Always unlock the steering
wheel before towing.
Make sure that the towing speed does not
exceed 50 mph (80 km/h), or your vehicle could
be badly damaged

not how the 5speed box is in 2nd.
this is to keep it from spinning, and its rear bearing damaged.
there are 2 bearings to worry the rear 5sp and rear transfer case.

on ours, we use an electric oil'er pump added to transfer case.
unlimited tow. (wires power feed from RV via coupler.)
or the drives shaft decoupling device, (not cheap)
or we drop the rear, of prop shaft, and tie up the rear up high
so it cant drop nor let it fall of rear of transfer cases
we use bunji cords, for up,
and then pull the front,
if the prop shaft falls out, you will lose GL4 gear lube out rear
of the transfer case. it falls out so very easy, off that spine.
there are all ways flat,
done them all.,

Do you think the 'clunk' sound I get on cornering is due to the lock nut being too tight after a dif oil seal change? 1990 Transit 130. Double wheels


I wonder if you have a posi. rear diff. and they didn't put the proper grease in the diff. or didn't put additive in the grease. Without the add. the clutches in the posi. slip and clatter.

I had a leaking rear diff cover so I dropped the oil and clean the cover and the rear diff where the cover mates up and silconed the cover and reinstalled and then it start leaking out the front of the...


If the seal is leaking, it will need to be replaced, if you have a service manual, it will show you the procedure to replace the seal. DO NOT try to replace the seal without following the proper guidelines as input bearing damage can occur. After the repairs are made, be sure to to clean the vent tube/valve on the diff. to avoid pressure build up that will cause early seal failure, this vent should also be cleaned at every oil change.

Ford 2001 econoline rear axle oil leak at drive shaft seal; how to repair/replace seal ?


if it is leaking from the front of the diff where the drive line goes into it you have to drop the rear of the drive shaft from the diff, if you look at the flange on the diff where the driveshaft bolted to you will see a nut, possibly about 25 to 30mm, you have to remove the nut and remove the flange off the spline of the input shaft of the diff, the nut is really tight and it is difficult to get enough pressure on the nut to "crack it" while the car is on the ground as there is not enough room to get a long bar on the socket to remove the nut. if you happen to get the nut loose and you remove the flange get a big screwdriver and pry the seal out of the diff, check the surface where the seal ran on the input shaft as it may have a groove worn into it, if it has the groove the new seal will still leak, they make a sleeve you can slide over the shaft to give the seal a good surface to run on, we call them a speedy sleeve here but not sure what they may call them there. replace everything in the reverse order that you removed it and don't forget to tension the big nut that holds the flange onto the input shaft

this fluid is likely to be diff oil its the axle oil seal needing replacment and you could do this job yourself take off the prop shaft and the drive flounge to reach the seal fit a new one but oil it and put the drive floung back on dont over do the nut,,,as for the u joints,,, grad hold of the joints with both hands and twist them together if the dont move or twist there ok,,,,a 4.7ltr engine is thursty but at 86k its just about run in with 1000s, of miles to go yet if its broping on mpg try giving it a realy good service and dont drive it so hard????

Leaking oil at spline shaft slip yoke at rear of transmission


there is a long bush type bearing in this tunnel just at the end were the seal fits in it can were out and let the prop shaft flap about, this in turn rips the seal to bits,,,also the yoke has a polished part on the end that go's over the spline into the end of the gear box tunnel the seal can were a groov into this part, and no amount of new seals will stop it leaking them as the new seal runs in this worn out groov, again ripping it to bits,,,test the long bush type bearing by holding the prop shaft yoke and pushing it up and to the side, if it moves about replace the bush in the end of the tunnel as well,, its a push in fit! with a big hammer!!
if the yoke has a groov in it you need a new prop as all prop shafts are balanced so you can just fit a new yoke it could throw the car up in the air when your driving it down the free way,,,,by shaking it apart

Rear drive shaft seal leaking


Yes, but you will need to mark the yoke position and exact number of turns to remove the nut or you will change ring and pinion gear lash setting when re-installing it. You can use a large pipe wrench to hold the yoke still while tightening, or get a special tool made for that.
