My Friends Ford did this a while ago. He put some graphite powder on his key and worked it in and out of the lock barrel a few times and that stopped it. In his case, the ignition chime switch must have stuck and made it appear the key was still in the ignition. Yours may be the same.

How do i fix a door chime on a 97 lincoln town car

Your igntion swith not releasing and lock in OFF position causing it to give a signal to your door chime to remind you of keys still in the ignition. Check the ignition switch by playing around with the key still in it. Move the key from OFF to ON and back to OFF again.
Make sure the left door are open and remove the key from the ignition switch. Tried it a few time this may tell you the problems.

Inside chime stays on a has killed my battery. I will only stop when I disconnect the battery terminal, but once I put the key in the ignition it stays on after I remove the key.

2 things to check, first ,, check the door switches, if one is shorted or stuck,, that chime will never ******* and will drive you insane !! if they all check out ok,, your going to have to get the ignition checked, its not fully shutting off ,, removing the chime won't correct this problem, and I imagine that unhooking the battery is quite a pain to do each time, I wish you good Luck with this problem,, let me know what you find works

Could be the ignition switch. Honda issued a recall on 1997 CRV ignitions in 2002.

1999 Ford Taurus Se with U engine. When turning car off and removing the key, the oil and ABS light are still illuminated, also the chime to alert you that the key is in the ignition chimes. I solved the...

Well if the ABS light is still on when you turn the car off you might want to check the brakes especially if you have drums in the back. check the oil level too. also the oil pressure guage might be bad along with the abs sensor.

Is there any way I can turn off the low fuel warning chime on my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee? The dealer wants $100 to do this.

This chime is also the same chime used for the doors. To remove this you will also be losing the ignition chime when the keys are in the ignition or when the doors open.
It can be removed simply by unplugging it. Just open the door with the keys in the ignition, look under the dash on the driver or passenger side. using you good hearing locate the chime and simply disconnect the plug from the back.

Dashboard lights and warning chimes.

The computer detected a fault. You SHOULD NOT drive it around with that blinking, or you will regret it. Take it to the dealership immediately and have them pull the code.

Ignition alarm will not stop 97 ford f150

The key switch usually breaks or wears out and makes contact. It is on the lock cylinder. This would cause the chime to not come on, or stay on. Sounds like the switch is bad.

1997 F-150/250 Warning Chime, Key-In-Ignition The key-in-ignition chime warns that the key is still in the ignition when the driver's door is ajar. The key-in-ignition warning chime will sound when:
  • GEM: Driver door is ajar, the ignition switch is in the OFF/LOCK or ACC position and the keys are in the ignition.
  • CTM: Driver door is ajar, the ignition switch is in the OFF/LOCK, ACC or RUN position and the keys are in the ignition.
The key-in-ignition warning chime will stop sounding when:
  • Driver door is closed.
  • Key is removed from the ignition.
  • GEM: Ignition switch is switched to the RUN position.
The key-in-ignition warning chime inputs are:
  • Ignition switch RUN position (battery potential on both RUN and RUN/ACC inputs).
  • Ignition switch ACC position (battery potential on RUN/ACC input only).
  • Key-in-ignition switch (grounded with key-in-ignition, open circuit with key-out).
  • LH door ajar switch (open circuit with door closed, grounded with door ajar).
This is a pic for a 98, could not find one for 97 which may be the older style which is more prone to break.
