Question about 1992 Dodge Caravan

Its not a dodge.its a 99 chevy truck 1500 4x4 5.7 liter rotates but wont start new gasfilter,plugs,cap,rotor,ran good for four days then cut off.tried solution#1 and it did not work is it possible it could be the modulator in the distributor or maybe the plug wires?

U DON'T SAY IF YOU HAVE ANY SYSTEM TROUBLE CODES, READING THESE CODES IS CRUCIAL TO FINDING THE PROBLEM.

ALSO YOU DON'T SAY IF U ARE LOSING SPARK OR FUEL PRESSURE , HAVE YOU CHECKED FUEL PRESSURE YET? THE TEST PORT IS ON THE FUEL SUPPLY RAIL AT THE INJECTORS ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. IF IT IS A LOSS OF SPARK THE IGNITION MODULE IS BUILT INTO THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE), SO IF SPARK IS AN ISSUE THAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM, ALSO A DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR CAN CAUSE THIS NO START IF SPARK IS ABSENT, DISCONNECT THE ALTERNATOR AND TRY IT, THE OTHER COMMON FAILURE IN THE IGNITION SYSTEM IS THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR ON THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE, IT WILL SET A TROUBLE CODE IN ALMOST EVERY CASE OF A NO START..

seems fuel related--pump and pressure regulator may be failing--a pressure test for residual fuel is needed. Go to an honest, independent or specialist. Injector driver could be going bad. It\'s in the computer. Get a obd 1 scan tool on it to read data as well as any codes

check high tention coil wire, coil wire going to dist cap with test light, if test light light up, it good also check dist rotor, and if that good might be pick up coil , the module might be bad, let me know what happen Bob

Check the plug wire from the ignition coil to the distributor cap.
If you haven't already, replace the distributor cap and rotor.
The GM Vortec's have issues with moisture getting inside the cap and rotor and causing problems.

I have a Chevy 2500 pick up truck. My son thought he'd replace the spark plugs. He removed the distributor cap, didn't understand it and now the truck won't start. He did not replace any spark...


firing order for 5.7 v8 is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 mostly all of the chevy v8s are the same firing order. the rotor button in distributer turns clockwise, the cylinder numbers are 1-3-5-7 on drivers side, 2-4-6-8 is on passengers side. To get started get your distrutor cap[new one] look on the top you will see a #1that's where you begin you must know if if rotates clockwise or counter clockwise start in that direction then follow the firing order and cylinder line up. good-day!! if cap is not marked, just pull out #1 plug, put a straw or similar in plug hole on top of piston. turn engine over by crank in front of vehicle with a wrench, when the piston comes to the very top just before it starts going down. this is tdc. and rotor button should be pointing to #1 wire on dist, cap. follow from there. good-day !!

I have a 1990 dodge ram 250 3.9 v6 just replaced the fuel pump and the map sencer and the intake temp. sencer and fuel filter new spark plugs wires cap rotor and the dist. pick up plate ran good for one...


could it be your crank sensor?
having a similar problem with a dakota. dodge tells me it may be the dist, but seeing as how you replaced it with a new one it could be that the sensor needs replacing

Check the plugs to the computer on the passenger side of the firewall. there are three of them, unplug them, wait ten or eleven minutes and plug them back in. if that does not work you might have a computer problem or a bad ground wire at the battery
By the way my 99 has the original plugs, wires, rotor, dist cap, and coil, from the factory. I have driven it every day for 11 yrs. over 12,000 foot mountain passes, four wheeling trips every weekend, and dozens of trips across the country. I have over 260,000 miles on it. I think you get the point...
By the way diesel boys this is a gas engine simply well maintained!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Three days ago i had to remove the intake manifold on my 1994 gmc yukon 5.7 liter had to remove throttle body and dist have replaced along with dist cap, rotor and coil the truck ran fine but now won't...


Check to make sure the coil wire is secured to the distributor cap and rotor.
Also check that the rotor is not cracked (even if new) and that the spark plugs are not loose - wires are not loose, frayed etc.
Also, make sure all connections on the battery, ground at chassi, and positive on starter are in good repair as well.

I have a 2001 chevy express 1500 v6 it wont start i check fuel pump,fuses and replaced distributor cap and rotor. havent check spark plugs or wires. it wont start...


Check for broken timing belt. Put a screew into spark plug head put the other end close but not touching to a metal engine part. have some one check for spark while you turn over engine. if thei is no spark check with distributor cap off if the rotor rotates when engine is being tuned over. if not then check timing chain. Good luck.
