Sorry, not familiar exactly, but most cars use the oil pressure switch or the alternator to tell is the fuel pump relay should cut out.

There is not safety shut off. Pontiac does not have it cause gm didnt want to spend the extra 14 bucks for the switch. To my knoledge ford is still the only one who offers a shut off and its standard equipment.

1991 Grand Marquis LS turned off on me I replaced

You need to determine what shuts off. With a volt meter check for power at the fuel pump. Try starting and see if power is present.. If power is ok. You will need to test the ignition module for power, ground and output signal.

1999 pontiac grand am does'nt start! v6 4door coupe. turns over but does'nt start.

hi, if it crancks over but doesn't start the first thing to check is the fuses, specially the gas pump fuse and/or relay, if they look ok then get close to the fuel tank an listen to the fuel pump while somebody turns the ignition switch on but not all the way to crank it it up, you should be able to nottice a noise in the tank, if you can't ear the noise it might be a bad fuel pump...

No power to fuel pump on a 94 cherokee what could be the problem? all relays are new.

the oil pressure switch conjoins to the fuel pump feed upon starting the engine. once the engine gets to normal oil pressure the computer will shut the feed off from the oil switch and turns the relay on to take over till you shut the engine off. If the fuel pump is good try this test. Turn the key to the on position & do not start the engine. You will hear the fuel pump running if the oil switch is good

2000 grand am- wont stay running

It Sounds Like A Fuel Supply Problem. Which Means It Might Be Your Fuel Pump. Check Your Fuse's And Battery Connections Before You Start Getting Into Dropping The Tank And Replacing It.. I Had A 94 mercury That Would Run In The Winter But Would Shut Off While Im Driving Down The Road In The Summer. When It Would Shut Off I'd Listen To My Car. Turn The Key On For 4 Seconds And Off for 2 and Have Someone Listening To The Gas Tank. The Pump Should Make A Constant Tone. If The Tone Changes up and down or if you hear grinding. theres your problem. a basic electric fuel pump for a car should turn on for 3-5 seconds and shut off when you turn the key on. NOT STARTING IT.
