I have a small block chevrolet engine with an engine ID code #V12IOXI. Can you tell me what size engine this is and what type vehicle it was from.


Looks like -
V = Flint factory
12 = December
10 = 10th day
XI = 1969 350 engine 2bbl carb C50 or C60 truck

Code 12 doesn't need fixed. When you begin to test codes you will get the code 12 but that is just telling you that it is in diagnostic mode, it will flash the code 12 three times, then after that it will flash all stored trouble codes. After all stored trouble codes have been displayed, the ECM will repeat the process( so getting code 12 again means you have reached the end of the stored codes list) If it displays code 12 three times and then displays code 12 again , it means you have no problem codes.

This Code is for the fuel injectors. My source for this Code displayed a result out of range for what you drive. There is a kit available in some Loaner programs at Autozone, Advance, and so on, which has a light that clips in the injector harness. But a Voltmeter will also work.

Either the coil in the injector is bad or the wiring to the injector is bad. Usually the Code will identify the cylinder, but yours shows an 11, which could only be Bank1 cylinder 1 since you do not have a 12 cylinder engine.

How do I replace an a/c clutch relay? I am getting this light indication code 12 33 55 which results to this. There is not even an a/c in my jeep anyway.


#12 "Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected with in the last 50 key on cycles"
This denotes the battery has been disconnected or replaced recently and should just be reset. It is more informational than anything.

#33 "An open or shorted condition detected in the A/C clutch relay circuit"
If you have no A/C the instructions are to ignore this message.

#55 means end of codes. No more codes stored. Problem codes, if any, will have been displayed before that.

Key cycle check codes 12, 43, and 55 can anyone tell me what these are?


HI. The 12 code is a basic code that will be issued, when the battery is changed, or disconnected for a short time. This Will clear, after the car has been driven over a period of three days with a consistent flow of electricity through the engine CPU.

The 43 code is the result of a Peak primary coil current not achieved with max dwell time, or a cylinder misfire. This will, generally, be the result of a failed coil, or distributor cap(if equipped). Check the ignition control module for faults, if the vehicle is not equipped with a distributor assembly. Inspect the wires and plugs for ware, as well. This code doesn't specify the actual location , and which cylinder is misfiring, so check all coils, and plug/wires.

This 55 code is not an issue. This is just a place holder number, stating that the code read out has ended. This code dose not represent a fault. 55 = end of codes.

make sure the speaker wires in the car do not have one side grounded.the output on the clarion is a floating output and cannot be grounded.the best solution is to look at the wiring on each of the speakers,and match them out to the ones on the clarion.the most common colr code is white front left,gray front right green rear left and purple rear right.each speaker has a plus and minus.mixing them up will result in the speakers being out of phase and result in poor bass performance.i would wire the wires directly to the clarion using crimp connectors.the first thing i would do is power up the stereo out of the car to 12 volts,and using a speaker make sure you have sound coming out.the yellow wire which is the clock/memory is a must to be connected to constant 12 volts or no sound can result

CODE 12
Trouble Code 12 is a special case code that is not logged into the ECM's Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) when detected. When the ignition is "ON" and the ECM detects no ignition reference pulses coming from the ignition module, it illuminates the Service Engine Soon lamp.
CODE 22
Trouble Code 22 indicates that the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is reading abnormally low. TPS volts should be close to 0.42 V at closed throttle and rise smoothly in about 0.02 volt increments to a maximum reading of about 4.85 volts at WOT
CODE 35
Trouble Code 35 is not used in the Turbo cars. If this code appears while a computer is connected to the ALDL connector, it is probably the result of a bad cable connection at the PC or the ALDL connector. Reseat the cable connections.

The code P1408 is no egr flow sensed, It may be that this code is tied to the O2 code P1138, check the egr flow by manully pulling the vlave open with your fingers, the engine will run really bad or stall, if it does'nt the egr passages are plugged with carbon and will need to be cleared, locate the underhood emissions ticker, it will show the location of the EGR valve. Repair the EGR fault first, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes minumiun and then drive it for a few days to see if codes return.
