The oil cooler has broke mixing the gearbox oil and coolant is this a big job

yes its expensive ,so disconnect the oil cooler pipes from the rad then buy some copper pipe about a 1/4 then make a nice few tubes with a plumbers pipe bender and make it fit infront of the rad or the ac rad where applicable then use a compression joint to connect it all up this will work just as well ,seal up the oil connection on the radiator with a couple of blanking plugs and away you go

20/50 is fine unless you in a winter in alaska ,use cheapest oil you can buy an and change it every 6000miles with a oil filter every third oil change ,Do not use long life oils with silly oil change periods as this sort thing cause the engine to clag up inside with depoisits then when these deposits become thick enough they break off and clog the oil pump pick up pipe filter and then it has no oil and the big ends go bang bang crunch

I have a 454 truck that I'm looking to buy but

No oil leak is common but they do happen. If you want to get serious buy a can of engine cleaner and spray that side and follow the directions on the can. Maybe he will allow this maybe he won't. Also take your finger and rub it inside of the exhaust pipe in the rear. if your finger comes out black there is oil burning going on. If nice and dry and it looks greyish inside then thats a good thing..
If the block by the oil filter is not cracked then you can replace a gasket. It may just be the oil filter need tightened or replaced too. let me know how it turns out. Don't forget the thumbs up for me, Raz

Oil pan leak

buy a tube of sealer called Right Stuff
1. Remove the flexible exhaust pipe
2. Disconnect the downstream catalyst monitor sendor (OXYGEN SENSOR)
3. Drain engine oil
4. Remove the 15 bolts and the oil pan
5. Clean pan & surface area.
6. Apply sealer 10mm (0.40 inch) diameter of sealer
7. Position oil pan and hand-tighten the oil pan bolts
8. Start with front of oil pan tighten each bolts going around oil pan till all are tighten up.
9. Install exhaust flexible exhaust pipe
10. Connect OXYGEN SENSOR connector
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Fill oil 5w20 (Spec)

Hole in cooling system

Hi I take it you on about the oil cooler which is part of the cooling rad in the front of the car, If so you will have to buy new rad or second hand if the oil is red it will be auto transmission fluid
if not is engine oil. Check where the pipe go if it is engine oil be careful driving as you may knack the engine hope this helps

Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine oil from the engine crankcase.
3. Remove the exhaust flex pipe retaining nuts from
the exhaust manifold.
4. Remove the exhaust flex pipe retaining nuts from
the catalytic converter or the connecting pipe.
5. Remove the exhaust flex pipe.
6. Remove the oil pan flange–to–transaxle retaining
7. Remove the oil pan retaining bolts.
8. Remove the oil pan from the engine block.
Cleaning Procedure
1. Clean the oil pan sealing surface.
2. Clean the engine block sealing surface.
3. Clean the oil pan retaining bolts.
4. Clean the oil pan attaching bolt holes in the engine
5. Clean the oil pan scraper.
Installation Procedure
1. Coat the new oil pan gasket with sealant.
Important : Install the oil pan within 5 minutes after applying
the liquid gasket to the oil pan.
2. Install the oil pan to the engine block.
3. Install the oil pan retaining bolts.
Tighten the oil pan retaining bolts to 10 NSm (89 lb–in).
4. Install the oil pan flange–to–transaxle retaining
Tighten the oil pan flange–to–transaxle bolts to 40
NSm (30 lb–ft).
5. Install the exhaust flex pipe.
6. Install the exhaust flex pipe retaining nuts to the
exhaust manifold.
Tighten the exhaust flex pipe–to–exhaust manifold
retaining nuts to 35 NSm (26 lb–ft).
7. Install the exhaust flex pipe retaining nuts to the
catalytic converter or the connecting pipe.
Tighten the exhaust flex pipe–to–catalytic converter
or connecting pipe retaining nuts to 35 NSm (26 lb–ft).
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Install the oil pan drain plug.
Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 35 NSm (26 lb–ft).
10. Refill the engine crankcase with engine oil.
