Depends on what the vehicle is. On older cars this was the case but these days they operate through the electronic circuitry. Don't ask me how because that is my limit on the subject. Col

SOURCE: 94 ford probe,speedometor,oil gage,odometer not working

You need to pull the dash and check the guages look for any burning or melting. You may just need to replace the pannel in your dash, pretty easy work. If not start checking the wires and cables that come out of your faulty guages.

SOURCE: My gas Gage and hot, cold Gage doesn't work. Is

it is more than likely the voltage regulator for the dash. this is a common problem for these vehicles. it is located on the back of the dash cluster, its a silver box with 3 wires coming out of it. it converts the voltage from 12v to the required voltage for the gauges to not fry your cluster board (6-7 volts). its an easy fix you just need to hit a junkyard or dealership. also you can try the relay for this which is located at the fuse panel in the vehicle, there are 3 blue or brown relays at the top of the panel it is the 2nd one on the left. just swap it with the ign relay and see if that fixes it. also you can try cleaning corrosion off of the wires to the regulator. fyi the relays are a pain to get out there is a tab on the top of them that you have to depress just look at the relay box under hood this should give you a good idea of removal.

1996 chevy cavalier gas gauge stopped working. could it be a fuse???

One fuse operates all the gages, so no the fuse is not the problem, the problem is that the gas gage sending unit (a variable resistor) that senses the level of fuel in the gas tank is defective and needs to be replaced, this is the most common problem with any fuel gage problem

The odometrer, speedometer, gas gage are not working

Has anyone had the dash out? If you take the dash out there is a cable connected to the odometer and the speedometer it is just one cable. And some wires going to the gas gage. Check and make sure the cable is connected all the way. The gas gage may also be disconnected somewhere but there could be different problems that cause the gas gage to be disabled. !Never touch two wires at the same time!

Dash lights and gages

There is usually 2 fuse boxes 1 that is under the hood and 1 next to the drivers side kick panel. If not that check that all your computers are working by testing them with a tester from a auto parts place or someone that may have one that will let you borrow.
