SOURCE: Can I put a 2.4l engine from a 97 cavalier in my 01 cavalier that came stock with a 2.2l? Thing is I want to keep the original 5 speed from the 2.2. Is this even possible?

talk with a service dealer service center and find out the differences in the bell housing dimensions. It may be possible to do this if the engine family is the same.

SOURCE: When the car is on hard to get into gear or reverse on a manual transmission for 04 cavalier

Hi Jenna,
That means the Clutch plate (Disc) is very near burnt out (finished), adjustment which is Automatic is not possible when the clutch pedal is depressed. Get to a mechanic soon. Otherwise you will have to pay for towing too.
Good Luck,
JP

SOURCE: Were can i get exploded view of tranny with partslist for 04 cavalier,automatic,2.2 ecotec

You need more than that if you plan on building it yourself. Go to ATSG.com and purchase a manual. Well worth the money. You'll need to know what transmission you have. 4T45E doesn't have a dip stick. 4T65E has one. Both look similar, but different on the inside.

I have a 98 Chevy cavalier , it has Manuel transmission, it will only go in 3rd and 4th gear, what could be the problem

It could obviously be the tranny is gone, but you would want to make sure you have enough clutch flood and the clutch is fully engaging. I had a leak in my 98 cavalier clutch fluid, and when it got low, it would not fully engage the clutch, simply making it hard to get into gear. Its DOT3 fluid. If so try reversing a little bit and gently tiring to get into gear. I believe 1st and 2nd gear share the same gear selection fork inside the tranny. Drain fluid and look for metal.

Can I put a 2.4l engine from a 99 cavalier in my 01 cavalier that's stock with a 2.2l and a 5 speed manual transmission? Bc I want to keep my original transmission from the 2.2l in car. So does anybody...

It should be the same block . The 2.1 and 2.4 should be the same external dimension. Therefore the bell housing bolt pattern should match the block.. Check the splines in the clutch plate so it matches the input shaft spline on the transmission. I had a Dodge Lazer whip me on the spline deal. The only difference between the 2.1 and the 2.4 should be Bore and Stroke ( internal).

Where is the transmission dip stick located

not all cars have tranny dipsticks, you would have to check your manual, or call the dealer. trannys with no dipsticks are called sealed transmissions, and unfortunately they are still doing that in new cars...stupid idea!

Where is the transmission dipstick for the 2001 chevy cavalier 2.2 liter?

There is no dipstick for the newer model Automatic transmission Cavaliers. There is only a red fill cap on the driver’s side on top of the transmission. The only way to check it is to jack up the car, making sure it level with a jackstand on each side of the car, and remove a small plug from the side of the transmission, underneath the car. It will be small and in an American size. It is either a 3/8" or a 7/16" size plug. Once it is removed, fluid will drain out if it is overfilled. Once there is no more fluid coming out, it is at it's proper level. If there is none coming out, then add more until it comes out and levels off. It has a capacity of about 11 quarts for the 4 speed models. The 3 speed models have about 7 quarts.

The dipstick for the 5 speed manual transmission is located on the back side of the engine. It will have either a white or yellow handle. It holds about 2 quarts of syncro-mesh transmission fluid. It is important that this fluid is used for the manual or problems will occur.

Tranny fluid

I am guessing it's an Automatice and you use a DEXTRON III. You'ld be able to fill it through the Transmission dipstick tube, becareful not to over fill. Good luck
