I have a 08 g6 it wont do nothing it was fine drove it to store got back in it wont even crank just the lights come on i bridge the starter over it cranks but wont start

It could be immobiliser related or ignition/starter switch, starter relay if there is one, wiring or connectors or even the starter solenoid or the motor itself that is preventing the engine cranking.

I suggest you begin by energising the starter solenoid manually if it is accessible. If the engine cranks it will prove the starter and heavy current connections are ok and if it starts it would seem the fault lies between the switch and the starter solenoid. If it cranks but doesn't start the problem is pointing more towards the immobiliser.

If it doesn't crank the problem is with the battery leads, battery, engine ground, solenoid or starter.

Generally speaking, if the starter was dead it would not jump start.
Sounds like the key switch or the neutral safety switch.
You would need to know if the starter has power when the key is in the start position.

Sounds like you need a new battery and an alternator. You can have both of these parts checked at your local AutoZone or parts store.

Does it cough and sput and try to start or just crank and crank and nothing?

I have 1994 for escort 1.9 5speed doing the same thing. Will not start with the key but will start if you jump the starter

im thinking its the starter..i would take it out and brin it into like an autozone they test them for free..
