Yes , checking codes first ,seeing if a scan tool will communicate with it . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop .

Ford alarm troubleshooting

If more than one light on the same side do not work, check grounds in the rear, most of the time the left and right sides use different grounding points. As for the Body control module, i doubt the problem is there, as there would probably more than just that going wrong if it was faulty. The BCM (body control module) is usually located under front seats, or hidden in the dash somewhere. I would like to be more precise on location, but we don't have ford galaxys in my country. Well... not any 2007 galaxys anyway, only 1970s and older. :P

U0140 Lost Communication With Body Control Module

This generic "U" trouble code applies to all car makers and indicates a problem between the PCM and the body control module. This is likely the result of a problem in the data link between the two modules.

Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. See: Verification Tests\Powertrain Verification Test
NO: Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module.

Yes it is called the body control module and is notorious for going bad, don't try to save any money buying it in a junkyard since these modules are PART number specific to each van. The dealer will have to flash it which means you will spend about 900 to 1000 to replace it including labor. But it's the only way to get it to work.

Current goes from the switch to the body control module THEN to the wipers which is why they are not working.

I would think a bad TIPM would be your cause. It controls the body of the truck, and it should send a signal to your cluster as well. You will have to go to the dealer to know for sure, but that is the problem I see at my dealership most of the time when what you describe happens.

Radio, lights (inner and external), power doors, power windows all are not working. I checked the fuses and all seems to be fine with those, visually. I am not sure what else to look at.

Your problems lie with the BCM, body control module, all these functions go through and are controlled by this module, only the dealer has the electronic test equipment req'ed to test the function of this module, it is an active test that cycles each system that the module controls one time, and then returns a report of any faults found during the test in the form of Body trouble codes.

Speedometer not working

I think you may have a problem with the BCM (body control module) as far as the wipers and windows anyway, the other issue may or may not be related, run a system test for trouble codes, you may have a VSS problem or the speedo head circuit board may have failed , it is electronic.
