SOURCE: water is boiling but the temperature gage level is

Hi there..
You say the water is coming out of the header tank bottle and the geuge stays the same OK so tell me ...how far do you have to go before the water comes out of bottle.
2, Has the thernostat been removed or replaced latley.
3,HOW HOT DOES THE RADIATOR GET WHEN CHECKING TOP AND BOTTOM OF RADIATOR AS IF ONLY THE BOTTOM GETS HOT AND THE TOP STAYS COOL THEN ITS THE THERMOSTAT OR THE WATER PUMP or if both are good then it could be something like a gasket ..
So let me know the answers to all the above ASAP Ron

Is water suppose to be coming out of spout on radiator....I put water where coolant goes n it just shoots out?? And car overheats

car over heating because thermostat faulty its stuck closed not opening allowing coolant flow from engine to radiator.hot climate need 50/50 antifreeze and water.straight water will boil away at 212 degrees. engine can get hot as 225 degrees you need add coolant to raise engine coolant boiling point temperature.

Overheating coolant boiling out into reserve tank

you have a blown head gasket.. doesn't have to have coolant in the oil for a blown head gasket... if hoses are rock hard when running then you have exhaust leaking into the coolant via a blown head gasket...

Antifreeze boiling over when car is overheatind and Wen its not overheating changed thermostat radiator bled and flushed it changed temperature switch no oil and water mixture No smoke

Check the over flow tank located in front of the passenger side glove box for water or fluid. When driving the car, listen by the glove box to see if you car hear a boiling sound. If you can hear water boiling or moving, check your heater core to make sure it is not plugged or bad. When the car starts to over heat, does the gauge register that it is getting hot? If it doesn't then check the thermostat to make sure it is not stuck open or closed. If its over heating and the gauge is not showing that the car is running hot before boiling over, then the thermostat is defective or not working. Try replacing it again.

Orginally, the temp gauge reads normal, drives fine, shut car sown and the reserve tank is boiling, changed the thermostat last night, let the car heat up drove it 2 blocks away, temp gauge shot up to hot...

2 blocks is fast to reach boiling.Take the cap off the overflow tank and fill it right to the very top with coolant.Start the car and watch for a steady stream of bubbles. If you see a steady stream you do need a head gasket or have a crack somewhere in a combustion camber.

1989 Nissan Maxima Radiator fans and Temp gauge not working.i have a 1989 Nissan Maxima and the radiator fans do not come on. I have replaced the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor and this did not work....

-The radiator fan will be kick on ONLY when the temperature reach about 190-200. Depend on the sensor that you have now.
You can test it by boil it and hook up a digital multi meter to it.
and make sure use a temperature gage to test with, so you know how hot the water when it kick on.

Good luck

Thermostat

It should open when it gets up to the opening temperature. Better way to test it is to put the water in the pot, hot from the tap, and put it on the stove. Put a thermometer in there too so you can monitor the temp. Drop in the thermostat, then heat the water on the stove. When it opens, note the temperature that the opening occurs at - then you can see if it's opening at the correct temperature. If you put it in boiling water, it'll open - but you won't know if it opened at the right temp.
