SOURCE: water is boiling but the temperature gage level is

Hi there..
You say the water is coming out of the header tank bottle and the geuge stays the same OK so tell me ...how far do you have to go before the water comes out of bottle.
2, Has the thernostat been removed or replaced latley.
3,HOW HOT DOES THE RADIATOR GET WHEN CHECKING TOP AND BOTTOM OF RADIATOR AS IF ONLY THE BOTTOM GETS HOT AND THE TOP STAYS COOL THEN ITS THE THERMOSTAT OR THE WATER PUMP or if both are good then it could be something like a gasket ..
So let me know the answers to all the above ASAP Ron

Is water suppose to be coming out of spout on radiator....I put water where coolant goes n it just shoots out?? And car overheats

car over heating because thermostat faulty its stuck closed not opening allowing coolant flow from engine to radiator.hot climate need 50/50 antifreeze and water.straight water will boil away at 212 degrees. engine can get hot as 225 degrees you need add coolant to raise engine coolant boiling point temperature.

Overheating coolant boiling out into reserve tank

you have a blown head gasket.. doesn't have to have coolant in the oil for a blown head gasket... if hoses are rock hard when running then you have exhaust leaking into the coolant via a blown head gasket...

Antifreeze boiling over when car is overheatind and Wen its not overheating changed thermostat radiator bled and flushed it changed temperature switch no oil and water mixture No smoke

Check the over flow tank located in front of the passenger side glove box for water or fluid. When driving the car, listen by the glove box to see if you car hear a boiling sound. If you can hear water boiling or moving, check your heater core to make sure it is not plugged or bad. When the car starts to over heat, does the gauge register that it is getting hot? If it doesn't then check the thermostat to make sure it is not stuck open or closed. If its over heating and the gauge is not showing that the car is running hot before boiling over, then the thermostat is defective or not working. Try replacing it again.

Orginally, the temp gauge reads normal, drives fine, shut car sown and the reserve tank is boiling, changed the thermostat last night, let the car heat up drove it 2 blocks away, temp gauge shot up to hot...

2 blocks is fast to reach boiling.Take the cap off the overflow tank and fill it right to the very top with coolant.Start the car and watch for a steady stream of bubbles. If you see a steady stream you do need a head gasket or have a crack somewhere in a combustion camber.

check temperture with thermometer if above 210 degrees check thermostat for correct operation and one easy way to check this is to drive at hyway speed then quickly check for boiling if not thenypou might have a blown head gasket /when car isnt hot or boiling pull radiator cap and smell for gas fumes or exhaust fumes if so its a blown head gasket napa sells a head gasket kit that you can easily use to check this also

My 2001 Chevy S10 truck 2.2 L the engine is always cold. The temp. is just above 100 degrees and the check engine light is always on. I got the computer read and indicates a faulty thermostat. I replaced...

Are you sure the coolant isn't heating up? I had the same issue once and the problem was i hadn't opened the high point vent on the cooling system. there for no liquid was getting to the sensor ie. it wasn't reading the true temp of the coolant. If that's not it try pulling the sensor out get enough slack in the wiring so you can get the sensor into a small pan of water. put scalding hot/boiling water in the pan have someone watch the guage put the business end of the sensor into the water and see if your temp rises. If not you were ether given the wrong sensor or a defective one.

Thermostat

It should open when it gets up to the opening temperature. Better way to test it is to put the water in the pot, hot from the tap, and put it on the stove. Put a thermometer in there too so you can monitor the temp. Drop in the thermostat, then heat the water on the stove. When it opens, note the temperature that the opening occurs at - then you can see if it's opening at the correct temperature. If you put it in boiling water, it'll open - but you won't know if it opened at the right temp.
