You either are not engaging the oil pump drive, did you reinstall oil pick-up tube and you are running the drill motor clockwise correct. Other than that did you prime new pump

Guides? As in valve guides? Or are you talking the oil pump lock sleeve.
Using a drill motor or even a speed handle with the oil filter off if everything is bolted up correct you should have oil to the filter outlet.

I did my cylinder head and put it back but my car is not starting i think i might have made wrong cam timing because its backfiring on the throttle its a volvo s40 2l engine need help fast

Did you remove the dist. while replacing the head if so you may have dropped the dist back in 1/2 tooth off on the timing and that would cause the engine to back fire. You need to bring #1 piston to the top of the cyl. and then make sure the rotor in the dist is pointing to #1 spark plug wire on the dist. cap and then drop the dist. You may need to turn the oil pump shaft to align the dist before dropping it onto the oil pump shaft. You can do that with a screw driver.

I need help with I am getting no oil pressure from my motor I just rebuilt first time rebuild it is a Chevy 350 out of a C20 pickup can anyone help

You have hooked up a manual test gauge to the oil pressure sensor/sender port and verified you have no pressure? Did you prime the oil pump before you starter the engine?

Why does my bmw 318 e46 m43 not picking up oil after i chang oil pump?

Defective pump. Or possible bad oil pressure sensor sending false reading to oil gauge. If oil pump is pumping the oil filter will be warm after running just short time. Last if pump runs off connecting shaft to distributor need to remove dist and verify solid connection. Dist runs off cam and pump runs off connecting rod to dist.

My 99 gmc 5.7 vortec got turned when the distributer was out now the oil pump shaft wont line up to put the distributer wont line up .. whats the best way to line everything back up and get the timin

If the Pontiac engine is similar to the small block Chevy, you have, I believe, a hexagonal shaft that runs from the end of the distributor shaft down to the oil pump. This is turned when the distributor shaft is turned by the meshing gears on the camshaft and distributor shaft. I would say that you are probably going to have to re-time the engine. Find TDC, then replace the distributor. It won't matter a whit to the oil pump if the gears are one or two teeth off, but it will matter a great deal if you distributor is not installed so it can be adjusted a few degrees when you get to "fine timing" the engine.

You should be able to download information on how to time the engine (finding TDC, etc.). Failing that, a trip to the library may be in order.

1975 gmc. pulled distributor, now I cant get it back in. pulled oil pump shaft to see if it wasnt hanging up on it some how. Dist still wont go all the way in even without the oil pump shaft in it.

put the rotor on the dist and gently turn it while very slowly lowering the dist back in.
You need to make EXTRA sure you don't drop that pump shaft into the block.
I trust you have the engine cylinder #1 at TDC and are ready to slap it back together, but if you have more questions on that, let me know.

1997 f150 will not crank - oil pressure light is on with fresh oil in the truck

take the distributor cap off and see if the rotor is spinning while cranking. your oil pump is driven by the distributor which is spun by a gear on the camshaft. sometimes the gears get shaved off the distributor shaft. if it's not spinning then either the drive gear is shaved or the timing chain has snapped.

The Oil light came on on my 1996 Mercury Sable I changed the Sending unit but that didn't help so I was told that it may be the oil pump I pulled the oil pan off, and removed the oil pump. I tore

Have you checked if the fault is your oil filter, probably the filter pressure valve inside doesn't keep any pressure? or the other thing is a possibility of the pressure pipes are clogged or semi clogged.

Turn the engine over and bring #1 piston to the top of the cylinder then remove the dist. cap and be sure the rotor is pointing to #1 plug wire in the firing order. Turn the oil pump shaft with a screwdriver so you can keep the rotor pointing to #1 in the firing order set the dist. You have to pay close attention when you set the dist to the oil pump shaft or you can get it a half tooth off and car will backfire when you start it. Good luck

Have you looked down inside the engine were the dist. goes ? If you do you will see the oil pump drive shaft . You will notice a slot cut in it , now look at the bottom of the dist. shaft . You will see a key or it looks like a standered screw driver . Probably not linning up , need to take a long screw driver an turn the oil pump shaft till they do .
