No spark when trying to start my 1992 Toyota Celica GT. The engine died while I was driving. It will crank over but won't start.

I can hear the fuel pump running. I removed one spark plug and it was lying on a grounded surface, but I have no spark.

I removed the distributor cap and there is no rust colored dust, but I did find a small amount of oil.

When I turn the ignition, the igniter does activate the rotor.

Thanks for all the help. My daughter says thanks, too. It ended up being the distributor. Car is running like new again.

Are you sure it's spark and not fuel? Look along the fuel injector rail, you'll see what looks like a tire fill valve, remove the cap and press the center pin, if you get a good squirt the fuel is fine if it just dribbles out you most liklely need a fuel pump. They go without warning very often. You can check the spark by simply removing one plug wire and stick an old plug in it, have someone turn it over and make sure the plug is lying on a grounded surface, you will probably see a spark.

Remove the distributor cap and see if you see a rust colored dust inside. If so, the the distributor is bad and needs to be replaced. The igniter in the distributor is not working properly

Did you remove the distributor cap? When you turn the ignition, the igniter in the ditributor should activate the rotor. The rotors spins in a timed sequence that triggers the plugs. You have to move backwards. If there's no spark, then move back to the distributor and check the rotor and for red dust in the cap. if there's red dust in the cap...you must replace the distributor.

Yeah the distributor o-ring is getting worn but that shouldnt stop yu from getting a spark. does the rotor or contacts inside of the cap look worn or corroded?

It sounds like the oil O-ring has worn away. Try shooting a BUNCH of "brake" cleaner into the cap. Wipe it out good with a clean rag. Then replace the cap and shoot all the plug wires with WD-40. Turn the key and let me know how it went.

1992 toyota celica gt will turn over but won't start. i think my fuel pump fuse might have something to do with it

Check fuses. If fuses OK, check to see if there is spark. If there is spark, have a helper crank the engine while you hit the gas tank with your fist. If vehicle starts, you have a bad pump.

I have 1990 Celica GT 2200. no spark to plugs/power to fuel pump

need to change rotor and cap , and might as well change wires and spark plugs if its due for a tuneup! yeah have your ignition control module check if it doesn't start after replacing every thing else.

SOunds like the timing belt has broke. To check you can take off distributor cap and turn over engine and see if the rotor turns. If not you have a busted timing belt. Please rate this a fixya if this helps. Thanks!!!
