SOURCE: I have a problem with a 2000 Ford F250. have

You might be lucky and it may be the head gasket. My son's '97 ford six had air bubbling out of the expansion tank. A new head gasket cured it. If it was an intake manifold problem, I'd expect coolant to be sucked into the engine. hope this helps...

SOURCE: 1999 nissan altima intake maniford gasket replacement

Somewhat involved, and specific to each engine and car. I suggest you buy a repair manual at a parts store (Haynes' manuals are pretty good-$26.00). Or you could go to autozone.com and register there, giving your car and year and model. They have some free repair procedures, specific to your model, that might help you.

How do I locate a leak that lets antifreeze and oil mix inside the oil pan?

Most likely a head gasket. The coolant is forced into the oil chambers and mixes. This too leaks into the exhaust gases and burns off as you describe. You usually get oil in the coolant reservoir. This can be checked with a test strip available at automotive supply store. It measures the acidity in the coolant.

You have a blown gasket.
You will have to repair it with a new gasket.
First try a quick fix like a Stop Leak for head gasket Bars Leaks or similar heavy duty.

Slow to rapid coolant rise after engine is shut off

Normal. This is called heat soak. When you stop the engine, its temperature rises since the coolant is no longer being circulated by the water pump through the radiator. The coolant then expands and goes higher in the overflow tank. As the engine cools, it retreats back into the engine. Proper level should be determined only when the engine is cool.
