Sounds like the shift interlock is broken. That keeps you from putting the car in gear without it running. Dodge used to have a recall on them but i do not know if its still valid. You can just push the lever like normal but push it very hard...It will break the plastic rod that locks the shift interlock and you will be able to put it into gear. Only problem is that you will always be able to put it in gear.

Do you have brake lights? sound like you have a shift interlock problem, if you have no brake lights, check the brake light switch, that has to work in order to get the car out of park

The bad news is that the dealership will tell you that you are going to need a whole new shifter put in. My 2007 sebring with only 37000 miles just did the same thing. I got the extended warranty but only had to pay the deductible. How can the shifter need to be replaced when the car is not even two years old? I really don't like this model. I've put way too much money into this car for it only being two years old. As soon as we can sell it we will trade it in. But now that chrysler dealerships are going out of business, other dealerships can buy my same model for way cheaper at auctions. Sucks :(

Check for fuel pressure the pump might have lost prime, specially if your driveway is on a incline.
In fact, i would add some fuel to the tank before i tried to start it again, if the pump is running dry, it will burn up quickly. Good luck, i hope this helps.

My 200 pontiac bonniville transmission just quit

it wouldn't hurt to have the filter and fluid changed however the rain water may have gotten in a sensor and disabled the transmission then when it dried out it started working again

Power steering

quite often ford steering pumps make noise, but if it is hard to steer, the fluid is probably low. First check underneath to see if there is a puddle, if there is then find and fix the leak. next, start it and get it to normal op. temp., while idling, pull the pump plug/ dipstick, check the level, add fluid if necessary. Steer the wheels back and forth a time or two, then check the level again. Double check underneath, visually inspect for puddles/wet spots. does the problem change after these steps? Theres not likely any water in it, therefore freezing isn't likely. Hope this helps.
