Not sure what you are working on so this is a wild guess. I would think the unit would not start or if it does it would be back firing through the engine. You might put a timing light on the engine if it is running and see where the timing is reading, if it is way out and you can not get it back then you may have a problem with the timing belt or chain. Hope this helps some.

I have a 1999 kia sephia and my water pump went out I just need to know if water pump driven by the serpentine belt or timing belt?

The water pump is driven by the timing belt BUT you don't have to worry about it getting knocked out of time because the serpentine belt will keep it in line for you as it goes around the same pulley.

How can I check to see if the timing belt is bad on a 2004 Toyota Sequoia? I drove it at lunch time and when I went to leave work it wouldn't start. Checked the battery and charged it, tried to

agree that starter is bad. to know if timing belt is starting to get bad is just look at the belt. if it is getting bad, there will be small cracks on the inside of the belt.

Is there a cam belt on a mitsubishi colt 1.1

I have a Colt 2005 Z30 1.1. I went to the shop asking for a shift of timing belt. I was happily surprised when the guy said that it had a timing chain instead of a belt and did not need to be changed. (I do not know how long does the chain holds, but definitely at least twice as long as the belt)

My serpentine belt broke and went under my timing belt and i think the timing is off how do i get it back to the proper timing

First, you forgot to mention which engine your vehicle is equipped with (2.4L or 3.0L .... the 3.3L and 3.8L engines are chain-driven). This is really "nice-to-know" information if you want accurate information on how to fix it. Then, I have a little trouble believing that the serpentine belt could go under the timing belt unless there is some severe damage to the timing belt covers.

It has a knock in the front of the engine, that came and went for a week or so until it got worse and now it wont start. could it be the timing belt stripped and how can I check it without taking the...

I don't know what vehicle or year you have, but I have the instructions for changing a timing belt on a 1997 Rodeo with the 3.2L V-6 engine in a PDF file. It shows step by step instructions of how to get inside the area you need to.

Hopefully your belt did not break. It may be that a bearing on one of the pulleys went defective. You can see the possibilities in the diagram I will happily forwad to you.

My email is sernst@insightbb.com Send me an email with "timing belt" in the subject line.

Timing belt on 2001 pt cruiser went

Have you installed a new timing belt? If yes then you must do a compression test on each cylinder to verify no piston/valve damage. Your motor is not a freewheeling one. Damage is most likely to occur if your belt has failed.

My 2000 mitsubishi galant es went dead, motor will turn over but

do you have spark? How do you know if your timing belt is good? sometimes it doesnt break just shed the teeth which could be missing under the crankshaft. The best way to check is to have two people. have one try to start the car and see if the camshaft is actually spinning. The crankshaft will always turn but if the teeth are gone on timing belt this would cause the belt to stay in one position not moving the camshaft. so if you can remove the upper timing belt cover and do this quick inspection with someone that will tell you for sure. if it does look like it is spinning then by hand turn engine very slowly with plug coil wires removed. and make sure teeth are all there. It couldve jumped timing. (valve timing)
