SOURCE: 2001 Ford Escape, dome light will not go off when

The door switch provides a ground to the dome light... so there is no danger to you if you want to attempt a removal of the switch. A rusted or shorted wire in the door switch (of any door) will keep the dome light on.

SOURCE: door ajar light stays lit when all doors are shut 2005 GMC Canyon

Hi,
This seems that either of the door switches is/are faulty. Try pushing the switches fully on each plunger switch on each door individually, keeping the other doors closed while you do. See if one of them causes the light to go out. If you do find one turns the light off, it's an adjustment problem with the plunger switch. May still need to be replaced if it won't depress enough with the door closing to turn off.Let us know if you were looking for something more else please accept the suggestion.

SOURCE: Replaced ride height sensors and

I have repaired dozens of these air suspension problems and without a doubt the #1 cause is leaking air bags, which you make no mention of replacing, as far as the changes to the ride height programs go they are preset and not adjustable, nor do i recommend you try and alter the system by fooling around with the ride height sensors, any changes u may attempt to make can and will adversely affect handling. My experience? 35 years as a Ford dealer factory trained and certified master technician in all phases of this system.

Door ajar light always on

Can be a bad doorjam switch. They have several wires on them and can be a bit tricky to remove without dropping wires.

If the air ride works it is a good sign but it can be a nightmare to track a chaffed wire inside a chassis. Each doorjam switch has the job of making the lightbulb work and the air ride to work. You would have to find out which door switch is responsible. If you are very lucky it may be a bad terminal on the doorjam switch.

All the doors are shut, but the door dash light indicates a door is open.

this is caused by one or more of the door ajar sensor switches sticking, it is a common problem in order to pin down which one is the problem the dealer can-scan the system and look at each switch to see if it is working correctly, since the tiny switch is attached to the door latch the entire door must be de-trimmed and rear glass run channekl removed to replace the faulty micro switch, so having the test done is only good sense time wise

Even if the door is shut the door is ajar light and airbag light are always on

problem not related ,door ajar is a faulty switch in the door pillar and the airbag light is a dirty electrical connection or loose wire caused by rubbish under one of the front seats

Message center says driver door ajar but shut tight

this problem is caused by a small switch inside the door that is attached to the door latch mechanism, it is called a door ajar/coutresy light switch, there are one of these for each door, the dealer can run a test that will id the bad switch very quickly, the output from these switches goes through a control called a lighting control module (LCM), it has the ability to test itself.
