Question about 2000 Kia Sephia

1 Answer

My Kia sephia is having a lot of trouble accelerating and shifting up. My belts broke two weeks ago and I had a leak in my power steering hose. I got all of that replaced and the air filter changed. Now whenever I try to accelerate it doesn't have anywhere near the power it should and it feels like it takes way too long to shift up, you can hear the rpm's roaring. I got my transmission fluid flushed, but that didn't work. Any ideas what it could be?

Power steering hose was leaking on my 1999 Kia Sephia and I had the hose replaced, now every time I turn the steering wheel past a 90 degree turn it whines like there is no power steering fluid. it almost...

The first thing I would do is check the power steering fluid and make sure it is full. If the power steering fluid was low after they replaced the line, it is possible that there is air in the system in the form of tiny air bubbles. This will take some time to go away as the air bubbles migrate to the top. If the fluid level is okay and the noise does not go away in a few days, take it back to who replaced the line and have them re-check everything to make sure the line does not have a pinch in it.

Could be just low on fluid! You got to keep the bear fed and it won't growl at you!!!

Sluggish acceleration, hard gear shift

There is a vaccum assist module on the transmission, which uses alot of vaccum and helps control your shifts, check that vaccum line at the intake manifold and the transmission to make sure it is connected, this line being off can cause you alot of problems,
The battery, check to make sure your cables are in good shape and connections are tight and clean, make sure you put the new belt on right.
If you have it on wrong you could be spinning the alternator backwards, then it would'nt charge.

Power Steering Pressure Hose

Simple. Remove bolt from pump. Remove 2 10mm bolts that anchor it to the frame. Then disconnect it where the 2 hoses meet just behind the alternator. Takes less than 3 minutes without air tools.

I need to rplace tke power steering hose on a 2000 kia sephia

we tried fixing the old power steering hose, finally just had it taken off and another made up by an auto shop, cost $65 to have one made. very easy to fix, just undo at each end. this is a pressure hose though so make sure and get the same kind made.
