Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Here's a link to this great service

Good luck!

Lost fifth gear and reverse Mazda bravo 2006 model four wheel drive

Sounds like you have lost the shifter fork off of the actuator inside of the transmission. As long as there was no heavy grinding noise coming from inside of the trans you might have gotten lucky and it just fell to the bottom of the case, but either way the trans will need to be opened up to make the repairs. I suggest finding an honest and reputable trans shop.

The plug is always beneath the sump in every car and the filter in Mazda is on the side of the engine (am not sure in 1992 either in front or in the back).

Transmission maintenance

Service trans every 2 years or 24,000 miles.Buy a trans filter kit, remove trans oil pan, replace or clean filter(some tranys has a wire mesh screen in them that is cleaned, not replaced),replace oil pan & refill with recommended amount & proper type of fluid.REMEMBER THIS:CLEANLINESS IS GODLINESS WHEN WORKING ON AUTO TRANS,DON'T LEAVE ANY PIECES OF RAGS OR ANY OTHER MATERIAL INSIDE OF TRANS!!!

Transmission filter

That car was available with 2 different transmissions.1 is the CD4E.That trans, the filter is only accessable if rebuilding the trans. You literally have to tear down the trans to get to the filter,so just drain and refill that one on a service. The other trans it could have is the GF4AEL,and that one has two pans. The filter is located in the bottom pan.Good luck.
