when you replaced the pump, did you prime the pump before use?,did you make sure everything was tight?,do you think it is ok to run the motor without oil pressure?what do you think will happen with no oil pressure?,the motor will blow up,so,when you take the oil pump out of the motor to check it,you will find out what the culprit is and fix it so that you can have a working vehicle.

We just replaced the fuel pump on my 96 gmc 1500. and it has no power going to it, as it did before... it has an inline fuse. wheres the fuse on it?

the fuel pump runs off the engines oil pressure switch upon starting. when the oil pressure is up to normal psi the fuel pump relay takes over until you shut the engine off.

try replacing the oil pressure switch on the back of the block. If IT DOES NOT DETECT OIL PRESSURE IT WILL NOT RUN Kills the fuel pump.

I own a 2002 GMC Sierra 3/4 ton. I have cleaned the injectors, changed fuel filter, changed oil and filter, replaced tires, but she is still fluttering and then dyeing. The RPM's drop and it feels like I...

hello,
You have a bad oil pressure switch. I know that sounds strange but It feeds the fuel pump. Some times randomly the PCM does a self check and shuts off the fuel pump relay when it does this it runs off power from the oil pressure switch. The easiest way to confirm this as a diagnosis is to unplug the fuel pump relay when the engine is running. If it dies when you unplug it thats it. if not you will probably need a fuel pump or possibly just a cap and rotor (tune) but I belive it is the oil pressure switch.

Low oil pressure

Yes, the distrubutor runs the oil pump. Try sliding the old one back in and see if you get pressure back.
But I'll warn you you may have caused lots of problems running it with no oil to the bearings.

96 GMC pickup w 350 engine, starts hard after like 8 hours.

could be your fuel pump relay you should check to see if the pump runes for about 3 sec. when you turn the key to the on position. It should if not the oil switch is turning on the pump after you achieve pressure.
if not check the relay. also with the pressure gauge hooked up check if your pressure drops off fast after you turn off the car. if so you need ether a pressure reg or a fuel pump.
hope this helps
