SOURCE: installed aftermarket hu in 1995

What hu, heads up display? if it is then did you install the special alternator illumination bulb socket (for battery lite) with the resistor on it? if it is not there the alt will not get any excitation signal and will not charge.

SOURCE: Where is the voltage regulator located on a 2002

Voltage regulators are electronic, internal on most units, now days, and not adjustable. Look for failed diodes. Easiest to pull the alternator and bench test it..

My 98 lincoln continental keeps cutting off I changed the alternator and battery but my dash keeps blinking and it says check my charging system Wat could it be

Preliminary checks to the charging system should be made regardless of the fault condition. These checks include:
  • Check fuses/fuse links to the generator to make sure that they are not burned or damaged. This condition, resulting in an open circuit or high resistance, can cause erratic or intermittent charging system concerns.
  • Check battery posts and cable terminals for clean and tight connections. Clean the posts and cables to verify good electrical contact.
  • Check for secure connections at generator output, voltage regulator and engine ground. Also check connection at the power distribution box and harness.
  • Check generator drive belt to verify proper tension and no slip between the generator pulley and drive belt. Refer to Section 03-05 .
  • Check battery for full charge as described

Battery light stays on 2001 lincoln continental

battery light stay on because there is no output or below voltage out put from the alternator. Check that the battery terminals and posts are shiny clean and tight, if there is a charging circuit fuse (OK). Have the battery load tested . Remove the alternator and have it bench tested by an accredited auto electrician.

Morons hooked up battery backwards car runs fine but new alternator will not charge battery fuses are OK please help its a 1999 Lincoln Continental with 4.6 DOH

They probably blew a diode in the alternator and/or fried the voltage regulator. Take the alternator back and have it diagnosed outside the car.

2001 lincoln continental not charging

Start the vehicle use a multimeter and connect the positive lead to the back of the alternator where the battery wire is hooked up, place the negative (black) lead to a good ground. Voltage should be around 14.00 Volts, if not you have a bad alternator. Good Luck.

Battery trouble light stays on, alternator is charging at 14.6 volts with new batt

14.6 volts sounds a little bit high. I would have the alternator tested. Sounds like a possible voltage regulator problem.

Battery won't keep a charge

check the air ride suspension system if that is causing the problem the car maybe trying to lift the rear end and it will cause the battery to lose charge check in the trunk for a shut off switch and see if that helps
