Have you checked the fuel filter, disconnect it put your thumb on the hose make some crank the engine for a couple of second fuel should have good pressure. If u could check near the gas tank right at the pump to see if good fuel pressure for than 30 psi if you have a pressure gauge it is better. If u have fuel their and no fuel near the injectors you line is clogged

I belive you fuel pump is not good, change fuel filter and if you can get you fuel line cleaned would be great, and while the tank is down get it cleaned this is the perfect time water stay at the bottom of the tank and cause problem when you are running low on fuel, pump sucks the water and then to you injector and not good. Take care hope this helps

  • Ottoniel Jul 24, 2009

what i would do is disconnect the hose before the injectors put air pressure with a compressor and blow on it clean the feeding hose and the return hose. Don't forget to clean you tank

Disconnect the fuel line at the engine, see if fuel comes out, if so its possible to have a bad injector pump, or if you have a week stream, maybe the fuel filter, start with testing the fuel pump for power and work your way back to the engine, you know it their somewhere

Yes you can be quite sure the pump is the probelm, if the truck has over 100,000 miles the likelyhood of the pump being bad is just about 100%, also make sure the connector to the pump is ok and that the oil pressure fuel pump cutoff switch is not defective, it is near the oil filter adapter

The first thing I would do is check the fuel pump relay and make sure that it is not blown. It can be checked with an ohm meter or multimeter. It should be located in the front seating area, driver's side of steering column, behind instrument cluster, mounted in the convenience center. Go to the autozone website at autozone.com and register your vehicle. It's free and you will have access to a full online repair manual for the vehicle. The info there could be useful. Anyways, hope this helps you and best wishes.

Pump is dependent on ignition switch, relay, and some sort of safety cut out.
The cut out usually is from an oil pressure switch or the alternator. Relay could have a simple reset switch, like Fords have in the trunk.

Do you have fuel injector pulse? Try spraying starting fluid into the engine air intake, if it starts you have no injector pulse and thus no fuel delivery to the cylinders.

Battery died and replaced but now hard shifting, high idle and will suddenly quit running. Could this be the ECM?

Sounds like the air intake manifold gasket getting bad. Easy way to test this is when it is idling high, take a can of brake cleaner and spray it on the air intake, all around the gasket. If the gasket is bad, the car will change it's idle as the cleaner is sprayed on it. This happened to both of my 02 saturns. The air intake manifold gasket is located on the back side on the top of the motor. Very easy to get at and a very easy test. To locate it , look for the throttle cable on the throttle body. Look to the left of that and you will see the air intake. It's an aluminum manifold held on by 8 ten mm nuts. Right behind the fuel injectors. You can also use ether or quick start, and it wont take much. If the idle changes, you intake gasket is bad. Let me know how you make out

Where is carb on a 98 chevy cavalier

Well it doesn't have one. GM cars built after 1988 are fuel injected.
You could check fuel pressure with a gauge, and also try using starting fluid sprayed into the intake hose to boost fuel supply.

1988 chevy beretta car will not pump fuel at fuel injector put in new injector but still does not pump

Skinnymin, you need to understand what and how injectors work. They do not pump, all they do is open from an electrical signal and let pressurized fuel spray out the bottom of the injector. Your beretta is either not getting the signal to the injectors to open them, or the fuel pump in your gas tank is not working to pressurize the line to the injector. In most cases, it is a faulty fuel; pump. Do yopu know if your pump is working? Here is a check: since the fan comes on with key, you may have difficulty hearing the pump, so have a helper. With the gas filler cap off, stand as close as you can get to the tank and listen for the pump to whirr on for about 2 or 3 seconds when the key is turned to on. It's supposed to turn on with key on to pressurize the lines, and if the car is not then turned to crank,. the pump will turn off until the car is cranked over-you can't hear the pump when the car is cranking or running, but you should hear the pump come on with keyt on for about 2 seconds. If you hear nothing from the tank., suspect a bad pump, or a wiring prtoblem with it not coming on. If you do hear the pump's whine( or whirr, or buzz), then pull off the electrical connector to the injector and check for power on one of the two wires in the connector with the key to on. One is a hot wire and is constant voltage with key on. The other wire is a ground for the injector. When the computer briefly grounds the injector wire ground, the injector is energized, raising a little pin on bottom of injector, for fuel to spray out. Understand it better now? So, check your fuel pump, if it is working, check the injector circuit.
The fan circuit is a tricky little apparatus, too. Includes the electronic coolant temperature sensor -ECT sensor- ( the temp. sensor for the computer, not the one for your dash gauge), also a fan relay and the computer. The computer turns on the relay for the fans when the temp. sensor gets to a certain temperature. You may just have a faulty ECT sensor or a faulty relay. In most cases, it is a bad sensor.Good luck with your '88.

My 97 chevy astro wont start when cold but well when i spray starting fluid in the intake ive changed every thing in the fuel system including the pump

what is the fuel pressure with key on and engine off? since you mentioned spider injector assembly it has to be a vortec engine that requires 55psi to open the poppet valve in the injectors just to start.

1992 acura integra wont stay running

Try the procedure below.

Here are the most common causes of idle surge, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake
