My 95 ford ranger will be tooling down the road just fine and then all of a sudden it dies. loses all power. thn it wont start back up for at least 15-20 min. its done this 4 times now.

Hi Tika, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

Tika usually when this happens its involved either with something bringing down the bus system on the vehicle, OR a sensor going bad OR possibly the engine controller. The first thing for you to do is go to autozone and have them pull the codes. If it has a code this will lead you in the right direction too diagnosing the issue. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website at: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

The engine just dies when going down the road and when I try to re-start, the motor won't turn over. Why is this happening?

You didn't tell us is you have the 4 banger, 3.0 or 4.0 V6 engine.

The engine can stall for a number of reasons. For a engine to run it requires air, fuel, compression, and spark at the proper time. I doubt air is the problem. The fuel pump may be cutting out (bad pump, bad relay, bad pump wiring inside the tank (my 93 3.0 Ranger had the last issue). The engine stall could be a lack of fire to the plugs. A bad (cracked) coil, ignition module problem, EFI computer or wiring problem, or maybe an ignition switch problem. The starting system is somewhat isolated and pretty much separate from the ignition system in general. This makes me suspicious of your ignition switch.

My Ford Ranger 2003 model V6 4 liter engine's speed limiter kicked in, the engine stuttered and died and won't start again. what is wrong?

Sounds like it's gone into limp mode at first. Then the fault has stopped the car. You need a code reader to check the fault, which will point you in the right direction. Could be a lot of things!

2003 Ford Ranger Pickup traveling down the road

Is there somthing hitting the gas pedal, like the floor mat? Or maybe something under the dash came loose and is getting caught under the brake pedal and pushing on the gas. Put the shifter in neutral if you get into a situation where going to hit something or someone. The engine has a rev limiter, to prevent it from over reving.

My truck 99 ford ranger died while driving down the road

fuel filter usually dont cause it to die and not start back, thay usually cause rough running. see if your fuel pump is running by getting in and roll up all windows so as quite as possible then cycle the key from off to run and lisen for the pump to run for 2 to 3 seconds should be a faint buzz sound if no sound is heard then replace the fuel pump relay, if no help probably going to need fuel pump
